Today I witnessed a mum having to argue her point that breastfeeding her newborn baby at a pool side was okay while repeatedly being told by a member of staff that it wasn’t? The lady was so calm with situation as i can already imagine she was just trying to keep calm for her baby. Some of the words I heard the staff member say to her regarding her breastfeeding was that it was inappropriate… and that her baby could have been sick ? I’m honestly beyond appalled the staff member/members made her feel uncomfortable when it’s something so natural. I’m so proud that I heard her standing her ground. I hope she finds this post and knows she’s doing amazing🩷

It’s actually illegal to prevent a woman from breastfeeding in a public place in the UK, if you feel strongly about it you should report it, it’s totally not OK!

That is shocking! Agree with Emma I hope the mum has reported the staff member

I agree with you both, I was so heartbroken for the lady❤️

That’s terrible. It takes a lot of courage for me to breastfeed in public so not sure I would have reacted so calmly if this happened to me 😬 definitely won’t be taking my baby swimming there.

The same happened to me, they said it was company policy no food or drink in the pool and that includes breast milk

@Steamtrane Family this seems so stupid?? Are they thinking you’re gonna squirt some in the pool 😂

@Lena yeah like my baby boy wouldn't miss abit 😅🤣 absolutely ridiculous really, I mean they don't let mothers bottle feed in pool or children eat in pool so guess they just making sure everyone is treated fairly

My reply was but the chlorine kills germs of poo and wee and cum and blood and puss and sweat and snot and slaiva and anything else that's bodily fluids doesn't it so this might be the nicest thing you could swim in 🏊✨😅 yeah I left after that

I breastfed my youngest when he was a couple of months old at Dunbar Swimming pool while the wave machine was on🤣 I would absolutely be making a complaint about the lifeguard!
