Ranting

Feel like I need to rant! Ever since my little girl has been born my mum has constantly gone on about how easier it would be to bottle(formula feed) her. I have nothing against formula feeding as my first two were formula fed but today we went shopping and my little girls just turned 5 months old and she’s a cat napper so only naps for 20 mins and was still tired and my mum just kept constantly saying oh she’s hungry and this and I’m like no she’s tired. Anyway, we were in the car and she goes oh you should be giving her bottles she should be on like 5 bottles a day you only feed her for 10 mins. My little girl is constantly on me if she needs feeding I will feed her. Then after she was on about weaning and how she should be on 3 meals a day when she shouldn’t. It’s just starting to annoy me as I’m so proud I’ve got to 5 months breastfeeding and if you look at her she’s clearly not underweight she’s chunky, always has wet nappy and is a happy baby. So just wondering how many times your baby feeds a day and how long for? Sorry for the rant 🤍

Mums can be annoying my MIL has been similar in the sense of ‘it’ll be easier when he’s on formula ’ but I’m not complaining about feeding him… I recon between 8-10 times a day, I only offer one side during the day time however and in the night offer both. Seems to work well for me. Last night he slept 8:30-3:30 then 4am -7:30 so I’m not complaining! He’s 11 weeks today. And totally around 5-10 mins he’s very efficient!

Sometimes my baby goes 3 hours and sometimes he’s on me for 3 hours! And I enjoy every minute of it as he won’t be doing it forever 😭

While it’s true that their naps should be longer by now (45mins or more) and they should have uninterrupted sleep of minimum 8hr, ideally 10-12hrs, as long as they have a healthy weight and a good nappy output, then these are good indicators everything is fine. I assume she’s getting weighed regularly by health visitor and she is picking up good weight?
