I stopped breast feeding around this time, but those feeds sound about right! I remember my baby taking around 30 mins to feed because she would take her time lol. However, every baby is different and just to make sure, give your nipple a squeeze after 15 mins of feeding to make sure milk is still coming out and babe isn’t just sucking nothing. This can also happen sometimes if the feed appears to be over 20 mins. Again, every babe is different and Mine just loved to eat slow!
I exclusively breastfed my little one and honestly our feeds varied so much depending on what he used me for. Cluster feeding happens and can feel quite none stop but when we weren’t going through those it could be anywhere from a quick 5-10 minute top up to a good hour or so. My little one fed pretty much 2 hourly (there were times he went half hour between feeds and up to 3 hours) but we always fed on demand. The gaps between feeds did start to increase around 5-6 months though and he had a pretty solid routine for quite a while after that of 10-15 minute feeds probably every 4 hours or so.
That sounds about right, they start to get more efficient around 4/5 months and feeds may become shorter, they also get really distracted around then too! You might find they suddenly start doing little and often for a while too. It's all very unpredictable, but going with the flow is definitely the best way! Just follow your baby's lead.
Thank you for sharing your experiences! It’s great to know that I’m kind of on the right track! ☺️
I mostly exclusively pump so it's a bit different. My babies 7 months and she feeds on average every 3 to 4 hours. When asleep she can go up to 7 hours. When she feeds off of me it's usually 5 to 15 minutes each side.
