Formula for colic babies

Hey , my baby has been crying lots and screaming like she’s in pain after having formula milk ( Aptamil). I’ve had a research and have saw the Aptamil comfort for colic babies , has anyone tried this ? Or any recommendations, thanks

It may be trapped wind. Has she been exclusively formula fed since birth? Have you tried infacol?

Consider CMPA. Screaming is one sign of a diary allergy. It can be a number of other things but screaming in pain was it amongst others for my son. Some other signs are rashes/dry skin, struggling to poo/having blood in poo or diarrhoea even though they seem constipated, crying in pain etc. Allergy UK has a good list. Were on amino acid milk now and my son is doing so much better and growing well. Also colic for me is a symptom of something else whether that's reflux, silent reflux, CMPA, tongue tie, wind etc. Colic maybe for an hour or two a day but if it's more than that for me it's something else causing it and it certainly was for my son

Mine did the same with aptimil- they gave her it in hospital to try - they said it was quite a thick consistency and it made her really sick, think it’s heavy on their tummy! xx

As long as there's no other concerning symptoms that may point to cmpa then it could be a formula problem and one of the ingredients may disagree with her. I went from kendamil to aptamil neither agreed with my little one so they trialled her on allergy milk and then we slowly reintroduced normal formula we've now settled on Hipp organic and so far so good x

My little one is on cow and gate and has been suffering with colic and reflux really badly for 4 weeks. We were told that majority of formulas are the same and that if it is colic/reflux healthcare professionals said a change in formula would be the last thing to try. We changed to Tommee Tippee Anti-Colic bottles rather than Mam. That helped a bit. Infacol and colic drops did not work for our baby and made things worse. Try to keep them upright when feeding and at least 15 minutes after the feed, this can help massively. Our baby was prescribed infant gaviscon and that didn’t really work but now on Omeprazole and we’ve seen drastic improvements!

@Phoebe nutritionally they are the same but companies use different amounts of and different ingredients so some little ones may have an issue with an ingredient used in the formula. E.g. some formulas use soy in them and some babies may not react to soy too well. X
