Nuby rapid cool

Do you need to sterilise it?? How? How frequently?

Yeah just put it in a cold water with a Milton tablet for 15 mins and I do it at the end of the day but I rinse it out after every use. But that’s just me

I used to but I’ve stopped now at 5.5 months x

If you use it with the water and add the formula then you have to sterilise it after every use but if you do the hot shot method then you don’t have to I use water and a Milton tablet for 15 mins so the digital lid isn’t in for too long

Sterilise after each use in cold water steriliser 😊

Yep as Jessica said if you put the formula in it then it needs doing after every use. I Wash immediately after use then throw it in the milton for the required 15 mins. I have 2 so I cycle them to give it the required 3 hours to cool down as my baby is still feeding every 3 hours

How does this save time? If you have to do the sterilising after each feed? And what do you do if you are not at home to do that every time? Like, today, we were out all day, 10 full hours, meaning 3 feeds. Would I have to have 3 rapid cools?? (We are not using it yet, asking cause we are considering it)

Nope I don’t because I only use the hot shot method, no formula goes in there x

Does the hot shot method work for anti-reflux formula?

Sorry I don’t know about that x

In that case I would make the first bottle before leaving home without the cooler as it will keep for 2 hours then take 2 out with me. When returning home I would then wash and sterilise. They save time because they cool the milk down in just a minute or 2 and also when you are out you don’t always have access to cold water to cool it down with.

If I have to carry hot water and 2 Nubys, might as well be carrying hot water and cool boiled water (to do hot shot method) though. That's fewer things to carry, isn't it? And less cleaning at home. And what if you do not know how long you'll be out for? We went for a couple of hours today, ran into friends and ended up being out all day... I am just trying to understand the Nuby thing, as to me it seems more work than I am already doing.

Never put formula in my nuby just water, so I never had to sterilise it, just wash as normal

You can do it however you like 🤷🏼‍♀️ you asked how often they need to be sterilised so people answered. I use the rapid cools at home as well as out and don’t find it a problem but everyone is different

I'm just trying to understand. Because I know people swear by it, but I cannot understand how it works for people who need more efficiency. Because the time it takes to sterilise (and the cost of Milton tablets if you are doing this 5-6 times/day) and cool off etc, does not make it seem efficient to me. I'm wondering if I'm not understanding something correctly.

I’m not sure what you don’t get. If you use the hot shot method the rapid cool doesn’t need sterilising because you are only using hot water in there. You only need to take one flask with boiling water, one rapid cool, the amount of bottles you need and your formula pots. You pour your water into your bottle, you then pour your water into the rapid cool leaving 30ml in the bottle, add your formula scoops and swirl, then you add the water back from the rapid cool when cool enough. Then it’s done, no need to sterilise and bottle made in 3/4 mins.

I don't understand how this is different/easier to carrying a flask with hot water and one with cool boiled water and doing the hot shot method. Seems like the same thing to me...

I have a milton bucket so only use 1 tablet a day and can put whatever I like in there. Obviously I don’t take it with me but I don’t sterilise the rapid cools while I’m out, I bring them home and do it. If you are doing the hot shot method anyway then you don’t really need to use them as long as you are using cooled boiled water and not just cold water out of the tap. Most people who use them for the hot shot method will take only hot water and use the rapid cool to cool some down as Elena said otherwise you need a flask of hot water and a flask of cooled boiled water. It’s personal preference. I don’t use the hot shot method but I use them at home because it’s quicker than cooling it under the tap and I don’t stay out longer than 7-8 hours so only need to make 2 bottles usually or I take a ready made bottle with me instead

Make sure you take take plastic tab off the lid when you clean too (we do on ours every time) but I brought some from vinted and whoever I brought them off obviously didn’t (maybe didn’t realise) and there was black mould underneath the plastic and all over it i ended up chucking them all away

You don’t need to carry two flasks full of water. Put how many oz’s of boiling water into your bottle, pour all of the boiling water into the nuby but leave an oz in the bottle, put your scoops of milk into the bottle with the oz of water in, while you are doing that you’d of tapped the nuby and turned upside down for the boiling water to cool Down, it would of turned green on the lid nd then you unscrew and put the rest of the water in the nuby which is at the correct temp into the bottle and you are ready to go x
