I don’t have advice sadly. But just here to say that I’ve never had any luck harvesting colostrum before birth but that it came straight through with no problems after birth and had a very successful breastfeeding journey with my son :)
Try a few different techniques, different amounts of pressure/squeezing and at different distances from the nipple. If I had just followed the NHS leaflet I wouldn’t have got anything so you need to experiment a bit. Also sitting up and forward worked best for me. I think the first time you do it try and do it a few times in that day, I only got a small amount each time but noticeably more each time. And it got easier as the days went by.
I have tried and couldn’t even collect any so far so I think you are doing great 😊 I have been told not everyone can do it so consider your self lucky 👍
Not everyone will be able to harvest colostrum so don’t be disheartened! My midwife said even a drop from either side pre-giving birth is an amazing result so don’t beat yourself up. Try be fully relaxed, warm and try a light massage first, maybe watch some videos to try different positions & techniques too if you want to try again ☺️
I’ve been massaging me boobs, you can try a warm compress, high calcium drink, relaxing, give yourself time, you can massage out 1ml and it takes an hour in the beginning x
Just relax, have a good massage and then try. If it doesn’t work try again another time that day. I’ve gone to try and just felt it wasn’t the time and didn’t want to hurt my boobs, then tried later and got two ml in about 5 mins.
The first time I done it was in a warm bath, I made sure I was completely relaxed and chilled. I watched a few videos to help me too. It’s different for everyone but anything is amazing. You’ll also produce this in the first few days once baby is here! X
