I would say your daughters could do with some steri strips on. It’s quite open and you want it to come together well to avoid a scar

@Terri aw it’s just awful when they hurt themselves 😔xx

As above, I'd get it seen and get the edges brought together with steri-strips to minimise scarring x

Hey! Nurse here! Hope little one is okay 🤍. It looks like from the photo that it’s cut open so I would take her to the grange to get it looked at as she may need steri strips/ stitches! X

Hey, I think that will need looking at 💓 Hope she is ok xx

She definitely needs some steri strips on this or she will end up with a much bigger scar then it needs to be, accidents happen glad she’s feeling better otherwise xx

Nurse here 👋🏼 I would get it looked at in A&E for them to clean and steri strip it - this will help close the wound and create a thinner scar than if it’s left open x

And yes accidents like these are so common. You’re not the first and won’t be the last x

@Liv can I ask are these possible to be done with a doctors appointment as she’s just been put down and ae wait times are currently around 8hours?x

Go to a & e the waiting times are for adults, your be seen quicker as your be in the kids departments. My daughter had a cut (I’ll post below) and it said 7 hours wait but we were out within 40 minutes x

I'd get that steri stripped to help it heal. If you've not gone to the hospital yet they'll be able to clean and do it all for you. They so indeed see kids quicker. They're under priority like emergencies are. It's normal for kids to get bumps :)

@Lizzy I would go this evening whilst the wound is fresh. If a wound is left then it becomes contaminated which then isn’t a good idea to try and close it as it traps bacteria in. That’s not to say it will get infected if you don’t go but the sooner you get these things sorted the better chance it has to heal and prevent infection. Your local a&e will have more resources than the gp - I’m not sure they have glue for closing wounds tbh x

And as other people have said you won’t need to wait 8 hours, children take priority x

Accidents happen but seriously go to a&e and have this seen to! Even if you have to wait, I should think they'll clean that up and glue/ stitch it

@Liv yoy could clean and steri strip it yourself if you wanted to. Do it whilst she is asleep? I replaced my daughters when she was a sleep and it was fine. You just need to pull it tight as possible. You can get cleaning wipes and strips from Tesco. X

Paeds nurse here 👋 as above I'd get it checked in ED and get steri strips applied ASAP to prevent infections and wound to be closed. Take care mama you're doing fine 🙂 kids are accident prone and they're also so resilient. She'll bounce back and be absolutely fine 🙂 👍

It is completely normal! And you'll have lots more believe me! The amount of times I've cried because my kids have hurt themselves... I cry more then they do!!! 😂

It's probably the first of many. My LG has hit her head so many times. Big bruises. Shes big into climbing things now and has no fear. You look at her legs and you'd think she was an abused child from All the bruises . Some i see when she's in the bath and I'm asking her how she even got that bruise or that cut. She doesn't tell me as she's nearly 3 instead she laughs. Some I'm a witness to and tell her directly that she's going to fall or hurt herself if she continues. No idea what she says but it sounds like a lot of back talk like she knows better so some days If not too dangerous i let it play out. I'm pretty sure she's in the threenager stage already.

When my daughter was 2 she ran straight into the table and got cut in the same spot! I just kept neosporn on it

My child has fallen and gotten worse unfortunately. It’s why I don’t ever trust my mother to be around him. It’s heartbreaking when they get hurt. My little guy slipped this morning and smacked his head on the vent. I cried 😞

I know she will heal. It will all be a memory, but I think she needs stitches, USA LPN here
