Has anyone had an ECV before? Does it hurt?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, i’m 35 weeks pregnant with my first, he’s been transverse for ages now and I have tried everything to turn him naturally.I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss my options, I’m hoping it’s still something they could offer me however have no clue what to expect xx

I tried on last Friday and unfortunately the baby didn't turn despite three strong attempts. It's always 50-50 chance and since it didn't work, they booked a date for my section. It wasn't painful but slight discomfort was there which I would consider as almost negligible. Someone on peanut recommended taking hard deep breaths and it helped me a lot during the procedure. It's a simple 20-30 mins procedure, you will be given a muscle relaxant to soften your bump and post that they apply oil around your bump and try to move the baby in the direction closest to your cervix. There was a midwife who frequently kept on checking my ultrasound to see if the baby is moving or not. My little guy moved halfway through and returned back to his original position. After three hard attempts they gave up. Speak to your consultant and understand what they can offer you. Some trusts offer 2 ECVs also

@Vinaya Thank you! This really soothed my nerves, I’m sorry your little one didn’t turn and I wish you the best of luck with your C section! Mine seems quite comfy sideways where he is now however it’s very very uncomfortable for me😂 I’m just trying to keep an open mind now xx

Mine was transverse my whole pregnancy had the presentation scan at 36 weeks they were still transverse so they made an appointment at 37 weeks to discuss options, went to that appointment midwife felt me and said she’s head down…I said surely not…37 weeks in transverse and now she decides to turn…I know they say it’s unlikely they will turn this late on but there was quite a few of us in the November due date group in this situation and theirs also turned last minute 🤞🏻xxx

I did first pregnancy. It was fine, uncomfortable but fine and it worked x

@Phoebe I’m due an ECV in 2 weeks so fingers crossed ☺️🤞x

This is reassuring, thank you☺️ x
