There isn’t a minimum. Some people can’t get any so even a drop from each side is a bonus ☺️
I think I may be okay then because I have easily managed a full syringe from each breast on my first try within a few minutes!
@Shelby Rebecca Tolhurst that’s amazing! Collect as much as you’d like then I’d say. I think our midwife recommended freezing some but can’t fully remember the storage advice, worth looking at if you’re getting lots!
@Shelby Rebecca Tolhurst amazing! I am wanting to do this soon I’m currently 32 weeks. How did you go about having an easy experience, I would love if you could share some tips with me? I’m so anxious about 1. Doing it and 2. Not getting anything x
@Henna yes I can share! I’m not a pro just yet but I had a bath prior and made sure i massaged my breasts in the bath, after that I followed the directions that are advised for hand expressing and it does take a lot of pressure and can be quite uncomfortable at first but eventually it comes out abit easier. They can also be abit tender after from the pressure but it’s worth it. From research some women don’t get a lot on there first try but I have been fortunate that mine has been leaking since about 28 weeks pregnant! It might take a good 5-10 minutes for anything to come out but hopefully everything goes well for you!!!
I’m very unsure on how much is needed but I’ve just been getting as much as I can get tbh! Some days I’ll get 5ml some days 2ml but im aiming to get atleast 1ml a day, I’ve been doing it for a week now and got around 20ml xx
I did none before my first as if everything goes well you shouldn't need them! My midwife gave me 3 or 4 syringes this time, I'll see how I get on with them but even if I just get 1 or 2 I'm happy
