Tennessee Moms

Just found out I’m pregnant and wondering what are top hospitals to birth that are safe for Black Women? If you have a problem with my post, keep it to yourself. I had 3 cousins (one as young as 28) and 1 aunt who all died in hospitals during childbirth and 2 lawsuits are ongoing because of foul play by white doctors. VERY MUCH STILL TRAGIC FOR OUR FAMIMY. This is real for Black Women. I live in Sevierville, TN.

you’re pretty far from where i gave birth, I live in memphis,tn & i had a black female OB & gave birth in Saint Francis Hospital & it was amazing for me !

Dr. Harmon at Fort Sanders Women’s Specialist delivered my twins back in March. She was wonderful. So kind and patient. I had a long delivery. I never felt like she was impatient with me or was going to make me have a c-section because I wanted a vaginal birth. I had some post birth complications and she came to check on me personally.

@Allyson thank you SO very much for sharing! I will look into her and will keep you updated!

Of course! Please do! Best of luck to you on this journey 🫶🏼

I wish I could give you good advice, but all I have is my experience as a white woman giving birth. I wish you all the best finding a doctor you trust and puts you at ease. (For what it’s worth, I delivered at Parkwest with an elective c section, and I never felt pressured to make a different choice or had any push back for the choice I made.)

I live in Knoxville & I’ve heard great things about park west from fellow woc and I personally went to UT hospital for both my children & great experiences.

Women’s care group they have many offices in Knoxville but they are apart of UT. I will say as a black woman my 2nd pregnancy was difficult and the way the doctors were attentive to my needs and really took no chances with my health spoke volumes & the nurses

@Latrice thank you very much! I also have that on my list to visit and take a tour! 🤍
