Cluster Feeding

My daughter will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and cluster feeds so much at night. She will want to be on the breast for 2+ hours every night and will freak out if she isn’t getting the breast. My husband tries to take her, but she will cry and root for the breast. What can I do to get her to do this for shorter amounts of time? I do not look forward to night time because of this and it is really stressing me out.

sorry mama, definitely one of the harder parts of breastfeeding is cluster feeding in the evenings, super common and normal ❤️❤️. My baby girl would stay on my boobie from like 8-11 in the first few weeks, so annoying having to do nothing for so long! I would recommend really pampering your space out in preparation for it. Make it a little nicer for yourself, movie on, lots of snacks etcetc xxx

We used a dummy during this period! He only really used it to get off to sleep and then didn’t need it for the rest of the night, it’s so hard when you know they’re done feeding and just using you for comfort! He stopped using it all together at around 6 weeks and we haven’t needed it since.

It's normal I'm afraid. These first 6-8 weeks are the times they cluster feed to make your supply increase. What can you do? Give it some time, it does improve.
