@Shay I think that is the problem too, putting the kids to bed and getting straight back to making space! Thank you for your help!x
@Shay sorry to bother you but how long do you reckon this should take surely a few hours? It has now been 10 hours and nothing has frozen. But I can feel a very low cold air flow in front of the fan. There is a clicking that comes on every now and then that lasts around 4 seconds and then clicks off.. I just don't know what to do anymore.
Is the freezer insured by any chance? Was the door left open at all at any point? The compressor might have packed in, but you’re getting some cold air which means it’s not all doom and gloom. Yeah it shouldn’t be taking 10 hrs at all and even so, you said still nothing has frozen so sounds like the compressor might have had to overwork a bit too much to try and cool things and it’s put too much stress on it. I had a similar issue a few months ago but my fridge freezer is controlled by one fan coming from the freezer. It was all caused by me accidently leaving the fridge door open a slight bit overnight. It over worked the compressor and it took about a week but it fully packed in by that time! The freezer started to warm up, everything slowly went off (and I had just done a grocery shop) and the fridge was warm! I had to call an engineer out who changed a few pieces and it’s been better than when we first got it🤦🏽♀️
@Shay my freezer also has one fan on the top back shelf. It does feel to me as though the seal doesn't seal tightly as before so I gave that a wipe.. I've booked in an engineer for £79 .. I feel so exhausted from trying to make it work.
Yeah I’m so sorry about that, hopefully your food in there will still be alright. Good thing is that they never froze in the first place so you don’t have to worry about things freezing then defrosting and then freezing again (as that will make you guys sick). Is the engineer visit soon? I left mine about a week as it kept starting up again then stopping but then when I booked the engineer they said another week! Having no fridge and freezer and a weaned baby was a pain!
I've cancelled the engineer.. I may aswell buy a new freezer? I've seen it for £199? On curries.. I got to speak to the engineer, and doesn't seem like he can fix the issue. :/ I'm so fed up
What type is it? Usually they have a fan that circulates the cold air through the freezer from the compressor. If you ram everything in there, there isn’t enough space for the cold air to circulate freely through and around the items in there so it will only freeze what it can get to and will work over time trying to get to the rest. If the chicken is still cold, it should still be okay but I’d suggest taking things out of packaging to free up some space (if they have individual packages inside) or use zip locks or similar to put items it so it’s not in boxes taking up extra space. Try and free up as much space as you can to get that air circulating and it should be fine
