Pumping during pregnancy

I’m not seeking advice I wanna know what you think. I am currently pregnant with my second and my little one is about 9 1/2 months old. I want to start pumping again to see if I could produce enough to feed my second when he or she is born. I don’t know the risks or benefits behind that. I also want to say I am about 1 month or a little more pregnant and I haven’t been able to breast feed or pump for about 6 months as my supply wasn’t much. I didn’t even get a few drops. I also had breast reduction a couple years ago. Has anyone else had the same thing?

Unless you’re currently nursing or pumping you shouldn’t start while pregnant. If you want to pump before baby is born you could start once you hit full term. I haven’t had breast surgery personally but I went to consultations with my sister who had it recently and the doctor said it was 50/50 that she’d be able to breastfeed after but if the nipple was completely removed there’s no chance

pumping during pregnancy leads to preterm labor so unless you’re full term, I wouldn’t recommend it

I’m pregnant with my second and fed my son throughout the pregnancy (he’s now 13 months and I am nearly 37 weeks pregnant) you may want to just contact feed (directly from the breast) as if you aren’t already pumping it could cause some possible issues with contractions as the suction is always different compared to having baby directly on the breast! In terms of your concern in regards to if you will produce enough… your milk will be up and down throughout the pregnancy due to hormones as I was a major oversupplier prior to being pregnant with my second and it’s reduced massively! Your body will change throughout the next 8 months, so I wouldn’t be too concerned about the supply right now as my milk has only just changed to colostrum and I’m almost full term! But,I wouldn’t know much about having effects from a breast reduction… have you spoken to a health professional? But I wouldn’t recommend feeding or pumping as such if you haven’t been doing so already! Hope this helps x

If you're not currently breastfeeding then you can't start pumping now. Your milk won't come in until you deliver the placenta, so pumping now won't do anything.
