Transitioning from mini crib to toddler bed?

My LO is 18 months now and has outgrown his mini crib. He still wakes up at night and the cribs saves him from jumping out. How do I transition him to twin bed ? I can add railings but I am afraid he can still fall off it in his sleep. 🥲 He moves a lot !

Baby proof the room, put a gate on the door, monitor up, floor mattress. Mattress straight on the floor with a fitted shit and one blanket. Put some pillows or blankets on the floor so if the baby does roll off it’s a soft landing, I put the mattress up against the wall so only had to “soft proof” 2 sides

Please share how it goes. My LO is 31 months and still in a regular crib lol. No issue so too scared to transition.
