Breast pumping

Hi! I'm 2 days postpartum, and I just started pumping. I was wondering how long it took for your nipples to get used to pumping and stop feeling tender?

Mine actually took 2 months to be okay. It was so painful I thought I had an infection. Apparently they were just very raw from pumping and breastfeeding and needed to make sure I change my nursing pads as often as possible.

Put the lanolin... Regularly to ease the pain... Let your baby larch as many times as possible, 2-3 weeks and you will be fine

I would say roughly 2 months maybe a little less. Use nipple butter religiously! I used it here and there when I’d remember but once I started using it consistently it made a huge difference

Are you manual pumping? It’s advised not to use an electric pump for first 6 weeks as they’re usually too powerful and cause unnecessary pain and cracks etc on the nipples. Xx

If you get any sort or cracking or dryness, I swear by silver cups. I’m 11 months breastfeeding and I still use them when I need to. Especially good in the cold if you’re extra sensitive too! ✨

Make sure you have the correct flange size! It makes ALLLLLLL the difference!

6-8 weeks
