Understanding Fetal Weight Calculation/prelabour symptoms

I’m 36 weeks 4 days I’ve had prelabour symptoms the past couple of days was relieved to hopefully have some info as I happened to have midwife appointment and scan this morning but no I’m still clueless ! So turning here for help ! 😂💞 I’ve had a lot of pains tightening poopin and baby feels like his head is poking out of my lady parts and exhaustion. This morning I had yellow jelly discharge (every day it’s been clear so I thought could be mucus plug) which I kindly kept to present the midwife she declined to look at it 😂😂 but she’s testing vaginal swab for infection which is the main thing I wanted to rule out as I know it’s not the same as waters breaking ! she said don’t worry or go to hospital until waters break I’m okay with that. 🧘‍♀️ I had a growth scan this morning I asked if his weight is okay she said “yes it will be printed for you” I asked if she can see if there is any sign the baby is coming imminently as it sure feels like it she basically said he’s head down but that isn’t her job which is fair enough. My scan result today in terms of baby weight is EFW 2,869 g 76% EFW (lb,oz) 6 lb 5 oz I don’t understand if this is his estimated current weight ? or estimated birth weight if I give birth at 40 weeks ? I’m frustrated now as google can’t even help me with this query. It will give me peace of mind to at least understand the info I’ve been given on babies weight as I didn’t get much closure today ! Thank you for reading xx

Sounds like bubba is in the 76th percentile and currently weighing 6Ib 5oz

The weight they have given you would be what baby was estimated to be as of today x

I think that’s estimated fetal weight which is today.

Thank you 🙏 I thought this but I’m really really in shock myself and my siblings were born at 42 weeks smaller than this and I was underweight when I conceived but have really made an effort to eat more can’t believe he is really 76th percentile 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Oooh looks like baby might be quite big if he goes full term then! They gain roughly half a pound per week so I guess that’s around 8lb 8oz at 40 weeks, more if he goes over. It’s all guess work obviously with scans but mine is looking to be between 8-8.5lb at my induction next week too!

@Sarah I don’t know how he got so big ! good luck with your induction ! 💞

He might not be chick, these scan estimations are often completely wrong 😂 have you been tested for GD?

@Sarah thank you that is a good point ! was tested 2 weeks ago they said they would contact me if blood sugar is high just contacted them to check they said it’s within the normal range or they would not have failed to contact me I asked the result they said 6 which I guess is mol/l to me that seems a little high to not mention anything so will lay off sweets 😢 as you say it’s just an estimate we never know ☺️
