Pumping to freeze

Hi!! I don’t know if anyone is in similar situation. I’m EBF but would like to make some stock for when my baby goes to nursery in March! I did pump in July/august but then no more, I’m gonna use that milk because shouldn’t be frozen for more than 3/6months. Now I tried pumping but I did like 5 ml after 15 minutes in each breast and I’m a bit upset as I’m unsure if I want to top up with formula when baby is in nursery… Anyone had the same issue? Do you think if I start pumping daily now that my baby is 6months I will build up more?

Hey. I don’t pump a lot, but I’ve noticed that it depends on the time of day. I suggest to pump when it’s been the longest since your baby has nursed. So, i find that I get the most late a night, over night, or super early in the morning. If you pump during the day while your baby is feeding all the time, you won’t get a lot. The days that I’m away from him for a few hours, I’ll pump during the day and get a decent amount. I also started using my Haaka again and get a decent amount from that. I don’t really give him frozen milk, though. When he starts nursery, you’ll be away from him, so pump those days and the milk you pump, you give to him the next day (if that makes any sense).

Your prolactin levels are lowest in the afternoon so late night early morning pumps will yield more. Also make sure Ur pump is using correct flange size if it's wrong u will get nothing out. Coconut water also really helps boost supply I'm an exclusive pumper so feel free to ask :)

Oh this is amazing!! Thank both☺️ I’ll try that late night and early morning! For now we are always together and in night she stills waking up every 2…2:30 hours😅 I think the flange is ok! I don’t know if you use hand free pump or manual? @Louise

@Tamara personally I use wearable pumps but I pump every 4/5 hours through the day and get about 1300ml daily My little drinks about 1000 so I have a 300 surplus Perhaps try playing with flange size a little and see if you get better results x
