congested baby hates nose drops or suction tools

My LO has a very stuffy nose and chesty cough. I worry he is not breathing properly. I’ve tried to give saline drops and to suction mucus from his nose, but he is absolutely not having it. He is not a fussy baby but for some reason anytime I approach his nose with a tissue, drops or suction tool he gets extremely upset. I hate seeing him upset and distressed so I just wipe his nose with my hand (which he accepts). Anyone else having a similar problem? What shall I do?

Mine hated it too. But unfortunately it was just something that needed to be done at times. It’s only a few mins of discomfort and fussiness, as much as it sucks. When my littles are sick I do this: - nasal spray - run a HOT shower and steam up the bathroom & spray with a little eucalyptus spray - sit baby in the bathroom while the shower is running (I feel like this needs a disclaimer *NOT IN THE HOT SHOWER*) - after a few mins cool the shower down and jump in with them (usually by this point the snot is pouring out) - I spray again with spray, massage, vaporub, dress - whatever your after bath routine is for baby but add vaporub) - then suction I understand how horrible you feel when they’re fussy because they don’t like it. But again a few mins of discomfort for being able to breathe a little easier/clear congestion is worth it.

Maybe try stuff with a lot of vitamin c. I gave my son homemade mango puree and he’s had a cough and it seemed to have helped

My LO has been having stuffy nose for a while and she hates anything going close to her nose. Starts crying and kicking but I have to spray/wipe/remove all mucus coz otherwise she can't breathe. It's sad but she gets better after a few seconds

I use snuffle baby vapor rub on a cloth near little one when he has a cold.

Have you tried saline spray? I know its still in nose but my daughter hates me touching her nose but loves the spray for some reason!
