Plus size elective section

Would anyone mind sharing their experience of being plus sized and having an elective. My BMI is 48 currently and I’m a UK size 18 for reference. - Did the spinal go in? (I was told it’s very hard for higher BMIs and may need general anaesthetic?) - Did your baby need support with their lungs? - How was recovery? Any infections? - How did you find the blood thinning injections?

So I had an emergency section 8 year ago and will be going in for an elective section in January hopefully. In my emergency everything went amazing - no problems with the spinal even though I had 5 failed epidurals during my induction. Baby was totally fine, no infections during recover I’d say within a week or so I was back doing everyday things. Blood thinners sting but overall it’s nothing too bad x

I had an elective on the 3rd October, I’m a size 22 and the spinal went in fine was nice and easy! No infections but I do get sweaty under my overhang but bathing it with warm water each day has helped. No support needed for our little one with her breathing she cried within seconds of delivering her. The blood thinners were the worst bit for me due to being very needle phobic, but we used numbing cream and I really pinched hard while my husband did the injection which helped, still cried every time though! Overall I would do it again if I were to have another baby x

I had an elective back in June and all went well. Spinal went in fine no issues. Baby did need a little oxygen when he came out but they never said it was down to my BMI so now I’m curious about that 🤔😂 No infections but the right hand side of my incision has only just completely closed - 5 months later. It’s only been the surface, skin level but I’d say that was down to the hot weather and generally being warm, plus I didn’t rest how I was meant to. I’d just bathe it with salt water and try keeping it dry throughout the day. Injections were fine although I hated doing and did forget a lot of the time 🙈 I didn’t actually do the injections after day 10 (was meant to do 6 weeks) as I was up, about and walking quite a lot. Obviously doctors don’t advise this but didn’t do me any harm. I’d absolutely choose a c-section again and again xx
