Thoughts on co-sleeping?

I know that co-sleeping is considered unsafe but when does it become okay?

It’s not considered unsafe unless you are doing it incorrectly. It’s considered more safe to sleep separately but that doesn’t automatically make co sleeping considered unsafe. It’s unsafe if you have been drinking or smoking etc or if your baby was premature or under a certain weight.

The issue is that for a while the advice was to never Co sleep but as they’ve learned more about SIDs they now recommend safe sleeping which allows Co sleeping but being mindful of the things I said above

There are certain cases & studies to prove it can be unsafe to co-sleep.. BUT, from personal experience, I want to say.. you do what you think is best for your family. I have co-slept with all 3 of my boys. And they are fine! My 7 & 10 yo still want to sleep with me sometimes 😅 which is fine by me even though we can feel cramped at times. But those days I just wake up more often to check on them & my 1yo because they all kick alot 😒

We started cosleeping full time around 2-3 weeks. Cosleeping is the only way I could get any sleep with my baby. I just did my research and made sure the bed was as safe as I could make it. Being sleep deprived and falling asleep with my baby by accident was more dangerous than me knowingly falling asleep with him in bed.

Look up safe sleep 7. It has guidelines for cosleeping safely. I have just started co sleeping occassionally with my 14 week old.

My son is almost 1 year old and we cosleep for 10 months every single day I researched a lot about safe co sleep and never had any issue or scare x

We co sleep with our firstborn - he is now 3. We have a newborn now - 2 weeks old and I cosleep in another room with her at the moment until she’s a bit bigger and then we will move back to the main bed.

I would personally never co sleep but that’s me both my boys went into cots straight away

@Sam I let my son sleep next to me sometimes during the day if his dad is next to us awake. I just was wondering at what age it’s not considered a risk. Idk why everyone is trying to talk me into cosleeping 😂

Yeah it’s not needed at all you do what you think is right

i don’t think people are trying to talk you into it, you just asked for people’s thoughts so they’re giving their thoughts🥲

co-sleeping has been phenomenal for me have done it since day 1. but i would say a “safe age” would be when they can start rolling and moving on their own. deaths from co-sleeping are from accidental suffocation so once they’re able to move blankets, pillows, etc off their face will be a good age.

The only time I've coslept with my son was once when he was about 6 months old and we were traveling and he would not settle into the borrowed crib. The bed was high enough I was a bit worried for him so he slept between us, mostly on my shoulder. Now that he's almost a year old we'll sometimes nap together durring the day, snuggled up on the king-sized bed. He's bigger than most 2 year olds at this point and will willingly tunnel around in blankets and find his way out and knows how to ask for help so I'm not too worried about it anymore. But I need my space at night, so he doesn't sleep in our bed lol. I need a small portion of my day where I'm NOT being climbed like a jungle gym. For my own sanity lol
