I had to stop doing bedtime stories because she was just using it as a stall tactic. I was doing snuggles in the rocking chair instead but fidget bum was driving me crazy & transferring to bed was another stall tactic so gave up on that. Now we do bottle at 7pm. Then brush teeth, then nappy change & get pyjamas on. Hug daddy & say goodnight (she uses that as a stall tactic too so we have to remind her daddy is leaving whether you hug him or not, usually gets him his hug). I tuck her in, daddy goes to wash up & I sing a couple of songs then hold her hand until she falls asleep. I sleep on an airbed next to her & apart from going to the toilet stay with her all night.
She goes up to bed without issue, says she’s tired ect but then she has a second wind when she gets in there.
You've either got to nip zoomies in the bud & stop her getting hyper & keep calm or let it ride itself out. We prefer the latter. If she needs to burn off steam at bedtime we'll sit at opposite ends of the hallway & play run to daddy, run to mummy until she starts to flag.
We bath/shower my daughter every 2nd night, normally around 7ish - we then take her upto bed after she's had some milk downstairs, we do her teeth & then get her into bed to read a story usually about 8. On the days she doesn't get a shower we stick to the same timings for routine. I'm on maternity leave just now, but before didn't finish till 6pm so the 8pm bedtime has always kinda been our go to. She is in a big bed (hated her cot from the get go really) but we do still have guards on which we will remove maybe around her turning 3 and put a baby gate on her door (she's in an upstairs room). She loves her bed & has multiple teddies that she picks to get cosy under the covers with her. We can actually switch on her little turtle lullaby light & she'll fall asleep herself too - her sleep hasn't always been great but we've had a turning point in the last few months (with the odd not so great night in-between as expected) x
6:15 we put bath on, the do bath, get in PJ's, get in bed, read a story then she goes to sleep :) had pretty much the same routine since birth 😂 just swapped the milk out for the story when she dropped her milk :) she's still in nappies though so we don't have the I need a wee yet, I'm sure that'll come 😂😂
