Getting nervous now

Hey all! This time around, I'm having a planned caesarian section as having my first born was quite traumatic and ended up being a category 2 emergency ❤️ Any planned section mamas here who have been through it before, what can I expect from a planned section?

I had a category 1 c section in February 2023. It was horrific and I felt so detached from the whole experience for a while. After many meetings at hospital I’m going for a Vbac this time but the closer I get to my due date the more the worry is appearing. It’s making me feel detached from the pregnancy which is awful.

I had a cat 1 Emergancy in 2021 and it was horrendous, just everything happened so fast I don’t remember much, I was in a daze when they first shown me my son and I didn’t get to hold him for ages I can’t comment on an elective just yet, mine is booked for next week but I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been told it will be really relaxed and a totally different experiences I’ve also asked for skin to skin asap this time which they have made a note of for me. Honestly it can’t come quick enough xx

I haven’t had my elective yet, it’s on 2nd Dec but even though my first pregnancy ended with an unplanned section, it was actually still very very relaxed & calm, which is what I imagine an elective to be like. I already had an epidural in place, so didn’t walk down to theatre like you do with an elective but I think everything else was pretty much the same. I got wheeled into theatre, there was lots of people milling around getting their respective parts ready, they were so smiley, happy & chatty. I was really surprised how chill it was. They chatted with us, put our music on, did their pre-op checks and then cracked on. I can hand on heart say that it wasn’t a negative or stressful experience, so I feel good about my elective this time. Try and stay positive. The actual surgery will be the same but the experience will be totally different, I promise. xx

I’ve had two electives and they were both really calm lovely experiences xx
