Body hair during child birth!

Well I know this is going to be controversial but want to hear people’s views and experiences. I’m not one who maintains my body hair very well, but I do feel so much better and “cleaner” in myself after I’ve shaved my legs, underarms and pubic hair. I’m wondering if there are certain expectations for when you give birth? Like is it better to have less pubic hair? Or does it literally make no difference. I am shocking in the winter for not shaving as I don’t see the point. I’m not at all embarrassed by it as it’s completely natural but curious if there are certain expectations now!

Trust me it does not matter where you have hair when you are giving birth. All hygiene and dignity goes out of the window 😅

Generally they advise to not shave because it puts you at greater risk of contracting infections. There’s alot of staph floating about hospitals and when you close shave you are creating an inlet into an follicle putting yourself at greater risk of staph infection. But also, im sure many women probably shave and don’t come home with a staph infection so I would just absolutely do what you want to do. Maybe you could trim your pubic hair with scissors (be careful) and that way you’re not irritating any follicles but may feel slightly better :)

I found it easier being smoother down there when it came to clean up with blood and stuff. I wasn’t freshly shaven as I shaved the Saturday and gave birth the Thursday ( postponed then 4 day long induction) but I still found it a lot easier to keep clean x

Pretty sure midwives have seen it all and I don't think anyone pays any attention to it. I would be greatly surprised if there were expectations from an aesthetic point of few. Personally, I found it really uncomfortable to shave with a big bump in front of me in the last week or two so just went as I was (can't even remember thinking about this before / during labour)😃

I wouldn’t shave but I’d definitely get a trim😂 just easier to keep clean but not uncomfortable when there’s regrowth
