I was never examined internally or externally, it was literally just a chat about how you are getting on and an opportunity for you to raise any concerns about your health/ recovery after birth. I found I was so overwhelmed with everything to do with my little one, I didn't pay much attention to myself lol. And yes they push contraception on you like mad ^
We had a chat and I asked a few questions. Mine did ask if I wanted my Stitches checked snd they got a chaperone and checked me. He brushed off a lot of my questions though!
Mine was very thorough. She checked my stitches. Checked to see if I had a separation. Advised on birth control. Asked over my mood. I also went in with a few questions of my own: - where I had the epidural was still painful. Almost as if it’s bruised so I asked over that. - asked when I could expect my period to return. - asked what supplements I could/couldn’t take. I go to the gym a lot so was particularly concerned about using pre workout. - asked for my iron and vitamin D levels to be checked so she booked me in to have my blood work done.
I was there 5 mins, literally just asked how I was, if I wanted to be checked, how I was doing with baby and then just put me back on birth control x
I think this differs so much depending upon how your birth went. I suffered post partum haemorrhage and a bad tear that required surgery so my post partum checks were all quite detailed...blood tests to make sure my blood levels had restored and physical checks on my stitches etc. also general chats about how I feeling mentally. X
Literally 'you okay then?' and then just checked baby
Mine was at 8 weeks and kept talking about contraception, told them that’s the furthest from my mind but kept asking and said they will send me a list of available contraception anyway. Didn’t check my incision or anything
Mine was rubbish. In and out. Hardly asked or checked anything! Seemed more interested in putting me back on the pill than anything else. If there’s something you’re concerned about then definitely ask it otherwise I don’t think they will check.
