First period pp
Sorry if it’s TMI but just wanted to ask if anyone had a similar experience. I’m 12 weeks pp and I’m having my first proper period since I stopped bleeding after having my son. I know the first period after is heavy and painful but I’ve never had a period this heavy. It was incredibly painful at the start (some cramps literally took my breath away) and I’ve had such a heavy flow that I’m bleeding through tampons after about 2 hours - very unusual for me. I’ve also had a lot of blood clots (only small but a lot). For context - I was put on the contraceptive pill after my 8 week check up. Did anyone else have this kind of experience? I’ve been bleeding now for 9 days and it’s not slowing down at all. Not sure if I should call the GP but I feel like I’ll just be told it’s normal, like every other nasty thing to do with childbirth and pp.

@Anne Marie ah thank you for sharing! I’m actually relieved it’s not just me but sorry you’re going through it too Hope you don’t end up on it for 9 days + too 🥲 Must be a first period kinda thing- the joys of being a woman 😂
I’m not on the pill but had a very very heavy period - I ended up in a and e due to the amount of blood loss, clots and fainting. I had a sodium chloride drip which slows down bleeding and then tranexamic acid tablets to take after. I was 10 weeks pp. I’m on day 7 now. It’s been an awful experience!

I could have written this myself! I also went on the pill after my check up (not sure if it's related) but I'm on day 3 of my period and have never bleed like this before, I brought the super heavy tampons and even then I'm still changing every couple of hours due to leaking. I'm guessing it is normal for the first period.
