@Makana I’m assuming they put the car seat/stroller under the plane? Does flying cause constipation? Never heard of that one Should I get noise reducing headphones or earplugs?
We just traveled southwest a month ago with baby, you can gate check your car seat and stroller before boarding to have waiting for you once off the plane. We used a travel bag for the car seat and bought a cheaper stroller for it to click into for the trip because they will only cover lost items not broken. You can bring the car seat onto the plane if you purchased a seat for your baby but not if it’s a lap child. You can board during family boarding which is before groups B&C, and a flight attendant told us to tell people the middle seat was for the baby if they ask unless the flight is all full or they (flight attendants) say they need it. Definitely recommend bringing an extra outfit for baby while on the plane and something soft to lay on the changing table in the plane because it’s just a straight up board for them to lay on over the toilet. Also, we didn’t know you cldnt check in early on the app with a lap child unless you have their passport, otherwise you do it there.
We fed our baby while taking off and landing, and didn’t bring any headphones or ear plugs, and she did just fine. She also slept through both landings and she did just fine. Maybe just make sure you have a binky ready just in case, that’s what we used for when she was sleeping.
@Emily very helpful, thank you!!!
No the noise isn’t bad unless you always have your baby nap in silence :/
@Makana my baby sleeps through almost anything. Thanks so much!!!
Absolutely!
My baby has been going on flights since she was 3 months old and we fly back and forth east coast to the west coast. I do it by myself my diaper bag consists of. Jammie’s and and extra outfit. 3 toys. Toy wipes. Diapers. Wipes. Blanket. Two burp clothes. 2 pacifiers Feed when taking off or before take off because then she’s asleep if not asleep and not wanting to eat just give the pacifier it all just helps to avoid their ears from popping.
Emily hit the nail right on the head. Explained everything perfectly. I would add to dress baby warm because the planes are always chilly, at least to me. I put my daughter in either sweats or long sleeves/legs whether it was hot or cold outside
When I traveled with my baby I brought my boppy and she slept on it across my lap and nursed almost the entire flight for all the flights I took her on. It was very easy and comfortable for her to just sleep across my lap on the boppy and if you breastfeed it makes it really easy. Haven’t flown with June 2024 baby yet but I did this with my July 2022 baby when she was a baby and she flew that way to Oregon, Texas, and Wisconsin without a problem.
You can Gate check your car seat and stroller for free but I recommend buying a case/bag for the car seat. I’ve even seen a few with wheels.
This is a really good travel toy https://a.co/d/aAIdqY3
Yes they let you have it all the way up to the gate.burp cloth and favorite toys feed while taking off and while landing if possible. And be prepared for them to be backed up for a few days.
