Side Lying Position

Y’ALL why am I just now trying this? If you’re breastfeeding I cannot recommend the side lying position enough- especially for the late night/early morning feed. Like, why did no one tell me?? 😅

I am actually just waiting for my little one to be able to roll over by herself so I can breastfeed on my side at night again 😅 So much more sleep

Yes, definitely the most comfortable position. I’ve used an elevated side lying position now with a pillow, as lo got a bit gassy with flat side lying. Midwife said it’s not safe at night, in case we fell asleep and squashed the lo. I guess we’ll just have to be careful…

@Eve if you have your arm up (they call it a C-curl) then you’re actually in the most safest, natural position … although it can feel a bit uncomfortable at first .. you won’t squash babe. Mothers natural instincts are there and babe can latch when they like. The C-curl protects them from moving far away too 🩷

YES. I've nursed my girl to sleep since day like 5 lmao. literally life changing

Only way I like breastfeeding lol. Game changer for sure. I probably would’ve given up sooner if I hadn’t started this. Preach. 🙌🏻

Do you have your babies flat on their back or on their side when feeding? Also how do you burp? Do they not bring milk back up? My LO suffered from bad reflux but it seems to be calming down now as he’s around 16 wks x

So just wondering if this would work for us

@TMR I usually start by having her on her side, and when she gets full she will turn to her back This is why I only do this if wide awake or at night once she can roll over by herself. When I breastfeed she usually doesn’t have to burp. Only occasionally she will get a little hiccup and bring some milk up If you want to try it, do it while you can closely monitor your LO ☺️

LO and I both lay on our sides facing each other. I burp her when we switch sides every 10-15 minutes. Baby does have some reflux as well and this position does seem to help a bit. @TMR
