Sitting up in cot

My daughter has just discovered how to sit herself up - she has been sitting up for ages but I mean getting herself from laying to sitting! Since this discovery, it’s really affecting naps/bedtime as she just wants to keep doing it.. and then usually has slept through but wakes a few times and gets herself into the position and cries. Did anyone have this and did baby soon just stop practising at every sleep opportunity?! Thanks!

Unfortunately not, mine learnt it a few months ago and still sits up all the time in her cot when she wakes in the night. BUT recently I've watched her wake, sit up, cry, then lie back down....so fingers crossed it means she's learning to self settle in spite of sitting up and hopefully yours learns that faster than mine!

Nope now she pulls herself up it’s becoming a nightmare as she thinks she’s being clever 🫣

Give baby plenty of time to practice in the day. When our LO isn’t quite tired enough, he will sit up and cry. I find when he is more tired he is more likely to lay down and try to sleep
