Growth scan

We’ve had a growth scan today at 39+5 and baby’s estimated weight is 4311g 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 can someone tell me how accurate these actually are? My first born was 4190g but was 9 due overdue. I am terrified to be fair as it was already hard enough fist time round 😭

I had a growth scan at 38 weeks, baby was predicted to be 8.4 at the time. She was born 39 weeks exactly weighing 9.9. My first baby was born at 38 weeks and only weighed 5.15 so it was a shock

@Emily was it a natural birth ? Or did you have a c-section ?

Take it with a pinch of salt, my daughter was estimated 6Ib 3 and born 2 days later 36+6 weighing 8Ib xx

@Dominika I opted to have an elective c-section due to previous emcs but went into labour early. I tried labouring for a few hours and then was taken down for c-section (my choice), when the baby was born the midwife said “I think you made the right choice considering her size”. It’s personal preference though. Best of luck x

I had a scan on 25th October estimated weight was 6.3 he was born 2nd November weighed 5.13

@Chrissy in my case I really hope it’s other way round and baby is actually smaller 🥲😂

@Dominika I don’t blame you, 🤞🏻 they have got it wrong 🥹

I was told I’d have a 10 pound baby he arrived at 6 pound 5!!!!! 🤦🏽‍♀️ x

I’ve just had a baby who was weighing too small on the chart, they said he’d be 4lb3 he came out 6lb6. I’d honestly take no notice they got both wrong with my little boys xx

@Megan you’re joking !!! How do they get it so wrong 😱😱

@Molly we’ve never had growth scan with my first so his weight was a surprise x

It’s hard to tell from a scan just how heavy they are going to be! They estimated my daughter to be a 10-11lb baby and were trying to push me for C-section because of how heavy she was going to be! I went spontaneously (by choice) and she was 8.6lb

I would take it with a pinch of salt. I’ve just had my little girl following an induction as a result of smaller bump measurements and a scan which showed a significant drop in percentile and estimated weight from my 20 weeks scan. Estimated weight was 6lb 6, she arrived weighing 7lb 8! It’s really hard to do an accurate measure this late in the pregnancy, they couldn’t measure my little one’s head (it was in the pelvis) so all they could go on was abdominal circumference and femur length. I wouldn’t take it as 100% accurate

Mine was accurate. 36+5 growth scan said 9lbs, baby was born 37+3 weighing 9lbs 1oz

I was told last monday she weighed 6lb9 at 38 weeks, she was born last wednesday weighing 7lb4 🙈
