Which hospital?

Hi ladies just wondering where you’re all planning to give birth? I recently moved to Croydon and I’ve not changed my hospital to a local one. So any advice would be great as I have no idea.

I was originally at the Croydon University Hospital - it has mixed experiences from people. I ended up self referring and moving to St George’s in Tooting, I had an early scan there at 11 weeks as my son gave us a little scare and thought it was a fabulous experience and only about 40 mins to get to in the car from where I was in Croydon. It’s totally up to you where you want to go, but you don’t have to stick with your local hospital just because it’s local if you would prefer somewhere else. I hope that helped and wasn’t too much of a ramble! Xx

When I say ‘fabulous experience’ I meant how we were treated by the hospital not the scare my son gave us 😂

although I was literally five minutes from Mayday, I self referred to St George’s … too many horror stories about Croydon Hospital apart from one member of the scanning team (who was terrible), I had a very positive and good experience at St George’s

I would go to St George’s. I went to st Heliers stupidly and it was the biggest regret. My sister had her second baby at St George’s and is having her third there and has had the best experience. Whereas st Heliers was awful awful awful

I live in Croydon but gave birth to my first in 2022 with St Thomas hospital and had a great experience for everything. My mum lives close so closer to my due date I stayed at my mums. I’ll be having my second now and I signed up at st Thomas too but I actually want a home birth for my second so I have no choice but to consider Croydon mayday hospital. Currently on a waiting list for the home birth as the team is currently on hold. Anyone have an experience with Croydon and their home birth team ?

St. Georges is probably the best option, but if its too far then the Princes Royal University Hospital (PRUH) is also a good option

Oh ladies honestly this had been so helpful because I’m pretty close to Croydon hospital but as mentioned the reviews online was a scary place and gave me more anxiety. I am currently with St Thomas but I just wanted to know options incase we have snow or some intense weather conditions when I go into labour and need a closer hospital. Especially since we don’t drive 😣. I am beyond happy with St Thomas, But I’ll look into St George’s.

I gave birth at Croydon university hospital 7 months ago and it was the worst experience. Avoid it at all costs

I second St George’s! Had an amazing experience with them

I had an amazing experience at the Croydon University Hospital, I had a life threatening complication and the doctors handled it seamlessly. They were extremely proactive in saving my baby n my life. The hospital has an advanced respiratory machine for babies which none in the nearby hospitals have, glad to have my baby in here as he needed that equipment to be alive, so do keep that in mind. All the best n hope all goes well with u xx I’ve had my friends give birth at CUH and they all have had positive experiences.

I was at st helier and cannot fault them.. absolutely amazing experience from start to finish with them

@Katie hi do you know if they cover Croydon borough for home birth ?
