I don’t think that almost 39 weeks is so early but I am also from Aus so I don’t know if that makes any difference. He was my second and I wanted to avoid induction. I’d had some PV loss and they wanted to check things out. It was offered and I was made fully aware that nothing may be able to be done. Since I was already 4cm he asked if I’d like him to perform the sweep which I consented to.

Kinda similar here. Induced on my due date exactly with my first (not a great experience tbh). I was looking to be induced with my second, I had my OB appointment and had a cervical check and was 4cm without realising, dr performed a sweep and told me he’d book induction for the Friday (this was a Tuesday) but it was likely not going to be needed. I had him the same day as my sweep at 38+6! It was a very fast labour (but so was my induction). I had him within 15mins of arriving at the hospital and we were home 12hrs later ❤️
