Sterilising Bottles/Pumps

Hi Ladies .. I am planning on exclusively breast feeding but would also like to pump & freeze some breast milk for emergencies! .. I have a tommee tippee pump and breast milk bags.. my question is, do I need to sterilise the pump before using or can I just wash with soapy water? Midwife said breast milk is sterile so no need to sterilise pump.. thanks in advance

Following because I had no idea that pump may not need to be sterilised??? 😭😭

I always sterilise

I sterilise my pump parts once a day. When LO was newborn to around 6/8 weeks old I would do a full sterilisation of the parts and bottles, and then every time after that a rinse and a quick soak in boiling water. Now I just sterilise them once a day and rinse them throughout the day. LO is almost 6 months. I use the tommee yippee microwave steriliser, and sometimes the fred and Flo cold sterilising tablets if they’re soaking. Breast milk IS sterile but bacteria can still get into your pumps and bottles from other things.
