Hair down there dilemma

What are you doing or did you do with your hair down south for giving birth? I know they say midwives have seen it all and dont care but I’m a natural overthinker and usually shave but I’m not sure whether to let it grow free or trim or what!

Honestly when you're actively in labor you couldn't care less what it looks like down there, and they really don't care. I'm also an overthinker but I was too huge and tired to put in the effort and it didn't even cross my mind in the moment. You're totally focused on giving birth and nothing else

I waxed xx

It’s more about cleanliness afterwards for me personally than the midwives.

I am normally very paranoid about what people think of me so I thought I’d worry about this but I did nothing because when the day came i genuinely couldn’t care less. I didn’t even change into my birthing outfit I had bought. And honestly there’s soooo much going on they don’t have time to think about how you look down there. I think though if you have energy do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable but if you choose to go natural don’t even worry about it! x

With my first I had a small bump so I think I gave it a shave because I was so paranoid but honestly after my first birth I realised I really could not in that moment of given a sh*t how my foof looked🤣 With my second I couldn't even see the thing for the last 5 months of pregnancy because I was absolutely ginormous so I just gave it up as a bad job did what i could do and thought meh that'll do haha xxx

I shaved it. I had a c-section for my first, they came at me with the shaving cream and razors..... And stopped suddenly... Ohh nevermind were all good 😅😂 I shave because it is comfortable for me, not for anyone else.

I answered, trimmed, thinking you meant just in general until I read the whole thing. I say all natural they don't care

With my first two I had a whole forest down there 😩🤣 couldn’t see jack to shave and honestly you won’t care. Now I pole dance as my work out, so I get waxed anyway and plan to continue until delivery.

My first time around I remember feeling super self-conscious and horrified about what they would think about my vag. This time I didn't care one bit. Rebecca in another post ( upkeep and appearance) said the older she gets the less she cares what people think and I agree. Lol I went into labor with a hairy snatch and some strays in my booty tmi lol it's giving 70s hairy pussy glam But then again I haven't shaved my vagina in years It's wild down there. I just stopped really stopped giving into the whole bald p**** vibe. I remember feeling pressured by men to have a bald vag. Not anymore.

I stopped being able to do any maintenance myself by the middle of the second trimester. I intended to get a wax or ask my husband to help me do a trim before my induction, but I ended going into preterm labour at 31 weeks. For the entire hospital stay, including several examinations down there and culminating in a C-section, it was an au natural jungle 🤣

I usually shave (can’t afford to go get it waxed) but it would’ve been nearly impossible to get in that position to shave, so I didn’t. Everything was fine. Just shower afterwards and wash it.

Used a mirror.

I gave birth two weeks early so I had no time to prepare and once you’re in labor you do not give a fuck. You just want that baby out of you. I was nervous for .2 seconds about the male doctor who birthed my son. Then I was like shit let’s just do this. Pushed him out in 15 mins. Male Dr. was the GOAT and I don’t even care he saw my coochie. He saw like 6 others that day what does it matter 🤷🏽‍♀️

Reading everyone's experiences made me question ..why are we so self-conscious about our vaginas? I really think society puts a tremendous strain on us. Like we are the ones with the magical ability to give birth we should be calling all the shots all the time. I'm just thinking out loud here and I might sound ridiculous. It really makes me reflect on all the times where I was just such an idiot and reckless with my vagina, and I'm not talking about shaving or waxing I'm talking about value. Gosh if I could just go back to my younger self and tell her it's sacred.

If it helps, I was told that having hair actually helps with things like infections etc as it’s a natural barrier. I would just trim :)

I shaved as best I could

@Violeta💕 excellent question! Personally I go through phases of not gaf I only really care about how I feel aesthetically, definitely would not do it for a man. If a grown ass man acts like he doesn’t know I grow hair there it’s a side eye and no go! But I like a clean look for my aerial shenanigans because I’m a hairy girl and it’ll look like I have buckwheat in a thigh vice grip if I let it 🥴🤣 plus the sweat! Can’t speak for everyone though.

@Nika oh for sure and I'm not trying to make it seem like bald is bad, because I know that's a personal preference for some. However I want to say that there is a pressure for hairlessness in general. In the states I think we have an obsession with hairlessness. I was talking about this on another platform, and in other countries women being hairy is more embraced. When I was dating I have had men tell me that they prefer a hairless vagina. Modern p*** also pushes a narrative of hairlessness imo

@Violeta💕 DEFINITELY! No lies detected. It’s exceptionally weird to me coming from men who tend to have zero grooming skills of their own 🥴🤣 like listen linty balls, pipe down. If you can’t pay the $75 plus tip for my wax, shut up talking to me! And the acrobatics it takes to shave effectively, man hop off.

I waxed about a monte before. So it was not completely natural.

@Nika gurl...lol.

Waxed

I honestly can't stand shaving or waxing just due to sensory issues when it starts growing back but I also can't let it grow free for the same reason so I just naturally keep it trimmed. Though I will admit I had fallen a bit behind when I went into labor so it had some good growth.

I was in the hospital for a month before having C-section so they shaved it for me since I couldn’t

I shaved a few days before hand

I suggest everyone invests in lazer hair removal it’s a game changer but u will need to wait until after u give birth

@Violeta💕 LMAO! "70s hairy pussy glam" love it! 😂

I never cared as long as it smelled nice and didn’t stink that’s all that mattered to me

For my first I was shaved. Not for the birth itself, but for the 4-5w lochia bleeding that followed, I hate hair down there when I’m a bleeding so after my second baby I got laser done for Brazilian and underarms. I dance now and need clean underarms and the laser deal was 2 areas for 1 offer so I chose Brazilian for the second free area.

@Amira yessssss! So far I'm only doing my face and pits, that's all I can afford. But I do plan to do more later! It's fantastic!!

They advise u not to shave before in case of things like infection.

@Jessica when I got my student loan I splashed out and did my entire body best thing I ever did

U save soo much money on razors and wax and watever method but the best thing is time saved, and I don’t know about anyone else but my skin was so sensitive and would get really irritated from shaving so lazer helped soo much

After I couldn't see past my belly anymore I just let it grow so it was all natural lol

Personally, my man trimmed me back to front😅 it was interesting and I cant say I'd willingly do it again because I found it a little embarrassing but he was absolutely lovely about it and honestly did a bloody bang up job. Definitely helped me with being bare to the world

i did nothing. no health professional cares if you’re hairy or not, and neither should you! it’s natural everyone has it

I've been shaving every few days. But it's getting extremely difficult. I always have my man check it for me. But he gets hot and bothered lol. He will help me when I cannot manage anymore.

i shaved (to the best of my ability since i couldn’t see lol) bc i didn’t want to deal with bloody pubic hair for the whole PPP :b. i had to be induced so i had a set time to do it. they ended up having to do an episiotomy, and i tore so even tho it likely wouldn’t have affected it much if any i was still glad i didn’t have any hair in the way so i could monitor my stitches

I trimmed until I couldn't and then just left it 🤷🏼‍♀️ Of course nobody was making any comments or anything, we was all just focused on contractions and the baby

@Jordyn i ain't lying either lol.

My husband helped to keep mine trimmed the best he could when I was pregnant. He trimmed it 2 weeks prior to me giving birth. I wasn’t self conscious about it. It was more of it being annoying for myself

I would feel so weird asking my husband to trim me anywhere, am I alone in that?

@Amira usually, yes. But in the case of me can’t seeing my own punani to shave because of my belly, I remind him who gave me that belly? He did. So he just rolls his eyes and says “pass me the razor” when I used to complain I can’t see to shave down there lol.

Laser! You save so much time, money in the long run, frustration, skin is much better, no ingrowns..

@Kellie I wish I had this confidence

@Amira I definitely felt wierd about it, I like to be clean down there and it was annoying me that I wasn't, making me feel insecure and my man was more than happy to help

Couple goals I guess lol

As someone who has worked in all medical fields and currently in labor and delivery until, I can tell you that we honestly don't care and we don't even notice or pay attention. When it was my turn to give birth, I honestly waxed but that's only because they are my coworkers hahah but whenever we have a mama who doesn't trim or shave, we don't even blink an eye. We see everything.

However, keep in mind that if you have to have an unexpected C-Section, we will be shaving you a few inches because of the incision site. So maybe just shave, trim or wax down a couple inches from where the hair starts on top. Feel free to leave the labia, however, also keep in mind that if we need to do any stitching, it's easier for us to do that if we have a trimmed area.
