My sister in law came home 4 hours after birth, hers was very straight forward so just depends on the birth I think

My husband was allowed to stay overnight, they gave us our own room and sorted him a bed x

@Kimberley how did you get round this?? Did you have to ask and was it c section or normal birth

If you are in active labour, he can stay.

My partner was allowed to stay after I had a emergency c section they sorted us a room and him a bed x

@Kira I mean when the baby’s born

Hi yes I had my partner stay overnight but it was in special circumstances, we stayed for 2/3 nights. Because I was on medication which had a side effect of drowsiness, I told them I needed him there to help me with night feeds as I took the medication before bed. This is also the reason we stayed for so long, they needed to check baby was okay and wasn’t in withdrawal. So it depends on if you have any special circumstances x

My partner stayed over night when I was in labour but once baby was born and I went to the ward he wasn’t allowed to stay and I left the next day about 1pm even though my birth was really straight forward it was waiting for babies checks that took the time x

I think it all depends on the day to be completely honest - if you are in active labour they can stay with you but then once baby is here they can only stay if you’re in your own room (not on a ward) I gave birth at 4.10am and both my husband and mom stayed with me until I was transferred to post natal - then my mom had to leave as it wasn’t visiting hours , my husband was allowed to stay until 9pm I think but then had to leave . We came back in a few days later because baby had jaundice and we were given our own room and my husband was allowed to stay (but couldn’t because he had to get back to our older kids ) good luck hope it all goes well 👍☺️

Normal birth, I said I was too anxious to stay overnight on my own and my husband not be there with me, they found us a room and were lovely!

@Kimberley I don’t mind not staying with husband I just desperately want my own room and to feel comfortable. Did you ask for this in your birth plan? X

No I didn’t ask for it, I was put on the ward initially but then they put me in my own room, the ward was quiet though and there was only one other person on it. Perhaps let them know beforehand that you want your own room so they can prepare one if it available for you? X

Really depends on circumstances. My partner stayed with me for the whole week I was on the postnatal ward in our own room, they sorted him a bed too. Was due to my mental health and that baby was born premature so was up in neonatal ward x

No and no. Partner had to go home with both pregnancies. He stayed when we were in the labour suite but not on the ward. Stayed in for one night both times.
