My daughter is the exact same! I’ve also been wondering to she understands soooo much but doesn’t say any words x
@Nicole how old was she when they suggested a referral
@Hannah it’s all so confusing and also frustrating for the both of us as he just moans because he can’t tell me what he wants
Around 3 if I remember correctly x
My son is the exact same! Isn’t speaking any words yet other than mama and dada! Hand gestures, shaking head for no/yes and his general understanding of what we’re saying is on point just no efforts being made to talk yet!!
Personally I wouldn’t be concerned just yet, I’d give it another couple of months before you start getting concerned. Around 18-24 months there is a huge boost in children’s vocabulary so he should catch up then. Also the actions thing is really good! Babies are learning different skills on different timelines so he’ll probably be focusing on something else right now xx
My boy hardly says a thin he is 16 months we went to a speech group thing which gave me ideas to try encouraging his words and understanding as my son doesn't understand much they said to try like tickle games and face to face song they said sing some then stop randomly asking if they want more then start again. Also keep language very simple and repeat repeat. He as been put for early intervention in speech as they os trait of him being autistic
@Paula what kind of speech group is this? I’d like to go to one if there is one in my area. I do all those games with my son and he’s very understanding of them if I tell him run and stop he will. My problem is only him actually speaking
My eldest daughter didn’t really say much, I never raised anything until she went to pre school and mentioned about referring her to speak and language x
