We had a routine from 2 weeks, bath, bottle bed. By 6 weeks he was sleeping from 7-3/4, and then 8 weeks 7-7. We didn’t do cry it out but did practice napping in the crib from early too. He’d fall asleep on us and then we’d transfer to crib, until about 3/4 months when we started to do drowsy but awake and then would sit by the crib shushing & patting for a a minute or so and then make our way out. By 6/7 months we could just put him in the crib after bottle & cuddle, say goodnight love you, have white music on and he’d be asleep within a few mins. I think sleep associations can play a big part in sleep so we were mindful of this. But agree with Liv, we could have just got lucky 🤣. It’s one of the reasons I don’t want another!
Routine from early on- bath, bottle, white noise and into the next to me cot with her dummy in. People say babies can't get into a routine early on but I'd say from 4 weeks old our little girl was in a routine (also helped my sanity!), she was sleeping for 8 hour blocks from 8 weeks. We put her in the next to me drowsy but awake and have never had to rock her or anything. Naps we always did in daylight (in the pram, in the car, in the sleepyhead on the sofa) with normal background noise until she moved into her own room at 6 months old and then she started napping in her cot once she'd got used to it at night time. This could all be a fluke and we could have just got lucky but yeah worked for us and we found consistency and routine was key 😊
