Children's story book ideas? 📚

I'm writing and illustrating a small series of children's books themed after my current artwork. All the stories will take place on a dinosaur farm. Does anyone have any ideas for stories? As a parent, what children's book stories do you prefer?

Could be about a dinosaur that is finding it hard to make friends on the farm, I’m not a writer but just a thought lol x

@Chloe That's a good idea!!

Different dinosaurs doing different tasks on the farm based on their strong suits (ex. Long neck getting the fruits off trees) as a lesson on working together

You should make your own version of The Little Red Hen. Another idea would be to have a specific kind of dinosaur having a hard time doing one farming task but realizing he's great at another

@Elizabeth ooo I love that!!

@Kylie I'll have to revisit the Little Red Hen, I can't remember that story off the top of my head! & that's a good idea!!

I love writing so I’m here if you ever want to bounce ideas off each other

@Elizabeth Thank you!! I'll likely take you up on that offer soon!

@FairyMother sounds good you also have my insta you can message me there too

I prefer life lessons

If you do a book of “job”, do jobs that kids don’t know about. Because doctor, teacher, athlete, baker, lawyer, astronaut (all wonderful) are just always mentioned in children’s book Obviously difference (physical appearance) Talk about how we eat. Just like Dinos some people only eat vegetables, while others eat a lot more meat than vegetables. Seasons! You could do a fun book about flowers or nature (the importance of taking care of our personal living space, community spaces or the overall environment). Dinos learning to swim Talk about traveling.

@S. annalese Thank you, all really good ideas!! I especially like the idea of discussing foods and eating! I can definitely write a story about everyone's bodies have different needs and to listen to your body when you're full 🫶🏻 maybe I'll do a picnic theme story where they all have to figure out what to pack and bring for each other so everyone has what they need!

Y'all are giving me great ideas! The only idea I had before was a book on welcoming a new sibling. A mama dinosaur has an egg and the older sibling confronts mixed feelings they have about the baby hatching soon

A dinosaur Christmas tree farm!

You are so talented omg those are fantastic illustrations!!!

Maybe something about learning how to be gentle, like a baby dino getting really excited to help the momma, but the baby breaks an egg, squishes the apple while picking it, drowns the flower when watering, etc. and the momma teaches them how sometimes you need to be more gentle. And it can end with the mom showing the baby something that requires no being gentle at all, like stomping on grapes to make grape juice or something.

Family of dinosaurs moving away from home, learning the area, new school, making new friends and all the feelings that go along with that

Your illustrations are wonderful! I like reading my son stories about kindness, inclusion etc x

I absolutely adore books with SEN/physical disabled animals/children included. It doesn’t have to be about SEN, but it’s nice to include, to feel seen and to normalise it. Also your illustration is beautiful 😻

@FairyMother I love your illustrations and I like how you incorporated constellations in the background super cute. What if you did a book about constellations?? Space stars and such!
