@Julia did you have to wait to have her put on special milk? It's frustrating that it takes so long and it's so distressing when they seem so poorly on the formula they're on x
We sadly ended up on children’s ward due to an unrelated issue and only at that point were we given the new formula as the doctor wouldn’t listen. We went through so many different formulas and none of them helped. We were given Aptamil Pepti 1 by a GP and that made my little girl a lot worse as well x
Could be CMPA, but just to say tongue tie mimics the same symptoms as CMPA so best to get this ruled out by a qualified tongue tie practitioner in case x
@Julia the doctor said the pepti 1 is what they will try with my daughter if switching the formula doesn't work, I'm really hoping that it works for her if that's what it comes to x
Some babies agree with it and some don’t as it still has cows milk in it but really broken down. My little girls couldn’t tolerate it x
@Jazmin she has a slight tongue tie but I'm still waiting to have her seen by the tongue tie clinic, she has had some feeding issues with bottles and we've finally got her on a bottle that works for her and she's still having issues. I shall ring the tongue tie clinic this week and have her seen asap x
@Julia ah ok, I will just have to see how things go, thank you for replying x
There’s no such thing as a slight tongue tie - I would have the tie released and see how she gets on before changing milks so you can identify what helps. Please make sure they provide post release exercises to help her retrain how to use her tongue correctly. Osteopaths are also meant to be brilliant for relieving tension built up caused by the tie x
@Jazmin thank you for the advice, I'll get in touch with the tongue tie team first thing Monday morning, she clicks on all bottles and I have seen that's to do with tongue tie preventing her from getting a good latch but they seem to think that she doesn't need it released, but I will insist on it being done x
Your little one sounds exactly like my little boy was he was on Kendamil from birth then they made us switch and it took us going to alderhey with constant projectile vomiting and he was dehydrated (at 4 weeks old) to get his milk swapped for a hydrolysed formula the first thing they’ll put baby on is a hydrolysed formula and that works for some not for all.. if then moved to amino acid milk like above ask for neocate the specialist feeding team at alderhey said it’s the one that’s most tolerated.. (both my children have CMPA) My little boy also had a tongue tie (he also has a high palate and a short tongue) and we found the best bottles were mam because they’re flatter it makes them easier to latch onto.. we ended up having it released privately by infantts as the wait was too long he got the referred in sept and we’ve just got an appointment for end of Jan which I’ve cancelled .. but obviously waitlist depends entirely on your area.. but definitely get it looked at asap ..
Cause that can have a massive effect on feeding and getting wind etc xxx
@Leah-Shannon my little girl has been on two different formulas, she was sma for two weeks and we switched to kendamil, the sma was a diarrhea poo after every bottle but the kendamil it's 1-3 watery poos a day, an improvement with how many poos but the constipation/diarrhea hasn't changed and she was only constipated when we changed her formula but still all the same signs. We changed to Dr brown bottles, due to the recommendation of the tongue tie and feeding specialist that called me.. but I'm going to ring them back tomorrow morning and ask for it to be revised to rule that out, then if it doesn't improve I will change her formula again and go from there, but it's an absolute nightmare all this messing around. They usually do tongue tie revision before they're 12 weeks old if they have tongue tie she told me, but they're never quick with anything tbh.. what formula did you switch to? My doctor has said because I've tried sma and kendamil, I should give cow and gate a try and see how she is.. also where did
@Leah-Shannon you get your babies tongue tie revision done privately?x
@Leah-Shannon and if you don't mind me asking, how much was it because if it's not too expensive I may do the same myself x

I had it done privately too - was £250. You can find a qualified tongue tie practitioner here https://www.tongue-tie.org.uk/find-a-practitioner
Also, lansinoh natural wave slow flow teats are great for babies with oral dysfuntion (they fit on MAM bottles and you can get them on amazon) also try elevated side lying feeding - it helps baby to regulate flow, learnt he suck swallow breathe pattern and helps with reflux
@Julia do you use a thickener?
@Sheila No. We used Carobel and Gaviscon (not together) and my little girl reacted to Carobel and gaviscon has made her constipated x
@Julia my baby has just been put on this. Can you let me know how you prepare it because it say not to use boiling water. How do you do bottles out and about?
@Chloe Wilband Which one? Carobel or gaviscon?
She has been put on the neocate lcp milk, how do you prepare the bottle because the tin reads like you can’t use straight boiling water like I normally would for formula?@Juliast
@Chloe Wilband You can either use a rapid cool to cool the water down. Or you can boil the kettle and fill up however many bottles that you need for the day with water and once cooled keep the bottles in the fridge and use them to make up the formula as and when you need it. If baby likes it warm you can use hot water to warm it up as well. I’ve asked a doctor and he confirmed that it’s okay to do it like that😊 Hope this makes sense x
@julia, prefect Thankyou! It say on the tin to let the kettle boil and leave for 30 minutes. I was just confused of whether the water could be over 70 degrees or below because I know some DF formula you can’t use boiling water?
Did you use to let the kettle boil then cool? @Julia
@Julia did you use neacote LCP
@Chloe Wilband I do use neocate lcp yes. And I’ve always used cool boiled water or cold water that’s been boiled and it’s been absolutely fine x
@Julia perfect, so I have boiled the kettle and left it for 30 minutes now I’m going to make up 6 bottles to put in the fridge to use with 24 hours! When you are out and about, what do you do. Do you use an instated bottle to put the bottle water in or just a normal bottle? Sorry for all the questions
How do you warm the bottle up if you’re out and about? @Julia Thankyou for all the information
@Chloe Wilband You can either get a flask and a rapid cool and do it that way. Or you can fill up the bottles with cool boiled water and take pre measured formula out with you. If you’re little one takes bottles cold then you don’t have to worry about warming them up x

Prefect Thankyou! I hope this milk helps she was on SMA Althea and didn’t get rid of any of her symptoms @Juliast
It does sound like CMPA yes. Sounds like the symptoms my little girl used to have until we moved onto Neocate LCP and she’s been like a different baby since x
