Thank you 😢been working on self settling for naps and also bedtime and baby is pretty consistently settling himself for naps, but seems to struggle linking cycles (naps only 30 mins)
Are you against contact napping? Each to their own of course - but my son strictly only contact naps in the day. If i put him down he wakes up. He sleeps like a LOG for approx 1hr on my chest at a time, up to 4 times a day. He sleeps in his cot from about 9/10-7am everyday with no night feeds anymore. He might stir for a dummy but he never wakes during the night anymore. This could all change though, however he’s been pretty good sleeper. I read somewhere about cortisol production in overtired babies. If your baby isn’t getting enough sleep in the day, they produce the stress hormone cortisol over the course of the day, and that makes their overnight sleep shallower. I’m no expert as he’s my first but I google literally everything 🤣 PS I don’t and won’t ever sleep train my son so no advice there x
Is ur baby going through sleep regression, by the sounds of it they are. There's not alot you can do unfortunately. My boy is just coming out of it and it's taken 8-9 weeks of hell. He woke 1-2 hourly a night and I felt broken to begin with. Nothing really worked. We did do self settling so now if he does wake he will self settle himself but that's all I did. Do u have friends or family that can take ur little one to give u a bit of a break. I promise it will get better. I know u feel like it won't and I completely felt like that and didn't believe anyone who told me it would lol. I did download the huckleberry app for the free trial for 2 weeks which helped me with his naps, so u could maybe try that x
Thank you 🙏🏻 I think it is the sleep regression as it started in mid October just after baby turned 4 months, so two months now. It’s so tiring and as you say Ally it’s hard to believe it will get better but I appreciate you saying it did for you - there is hope! X
We are JUST coming out thw regression. It started before 4mo and he's 6mo now. We've had minimum 6 wake ups but more like 8-10 every night. We've nearly cracked self settling for naps and bedtime, sometimes I have to pat/shush a little. Last night he didn't wake up till 1:30am! I couldn't believe it. Then he slept again until 4 (had to come into bed as still wasn't settled by 5am and I was cold 🤣). So hope you're nearly on your way out. It's been about 12 weeks for us.
I promise u, it will just happen. It's so hard being a mum and being sleep deprived. Please feel free to message me if u wanna chat xxx
I sleep trained at 5 months started going really well then we hit leap 5 and now it’s all gone to shit again x
:( hope you’re ok. How does baby go down for naps? X
