@Lauren no because I 100% agree and feel the same as you. I like being her comfort and I like breastfeeding in general even though my nipple hurts like a bitch. Specially now that she has 2 teeth 🥲 Do yours still feel sore?
I'm thinking and will switch soon. She feels more comfy now to stay with daddy and formula will give me more freedom. I'm waiting for 6m mark to start give formula. My other 3 kids grew up on formula, so I live the routine that comes with it and can't wait for that 😁
All the time. I’m dreading the day he gets teeth. But I love being his comfort. I love the closeness, the bond. So I power through the sore nipples and being on call for feeds 24/7 with sheer stubbornness 😅
@Levi mine’s got two teeth now and it’s been agony 😭 plus she has this thing where when she’s feeding she has to scratch the boob at the same time with her nails and it hurtssss
I’m still feeding my eldest who is nearly 3 so I’m not planning to stop any time soon! You shouldn’t be having nipple pain though, have you seen anyone for some support with latching? You might just need a small tweak to positioning, sounds like your nipple is hitting the roof of her mouth which would hurt, if you have the right position it shouldn’t hurt at all. I find teething necklaces really helpful around this age when they start grabbing everything. I also find having a top on that covers my chest is better when they get scratchy! 😄
@Lauren I’m gonna have a look into this. I’ve always assumed because she feeds more from the right side, that’s why that one hurts and the left one doesn’t 😭 don’t ask me why but since she was a newborn she always preferred the right one even though both have milk in them 😂
@Beatriz it’s normal to have a preference but try and switch for each feed. Have you got silver nipple cups? I find them really helpful for quick healing. Have a look at the flipple technique for a deeper latch, they say about pulling their feet towards the opposite armpit to the side you’re feeding on so her head has to tilt back further to latch. This might help a bit to try some different positions. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CcXe5K6gzl3/?igsh=MThmM24yc2Q1ZWpreA==
@Beatriz yeah he’s already at the scratching and pinching phase, he loves to grab a massive handful of my boob and dig his nails into it 😭
@Lauren thank you very much for this! 🤍
My baby also has a favourite boob!! I try to give the ‘non favourite’ when he’s more hungry, or when he’s asleep in the night. Else I was considering starting to pump from it again!! Sorry to hear about your soreness - when mine were sore I tried to air dry them (eg inside a ‘catch cup’ I used Elvie ones from vinted) but other ladies say the silverette cups are a godsend
@Beatriz you’re welcome, hope it helps!
I EBF and looking to give a bottle of formula every day soon too! I pump every morning as soon as I wake up as I can get 5oz in the morning. I have a momcozy which just sits in my bra and I can get things done around the house at the same time, so not much effort and as I only do it once a day it's only one lot of Sterilising and cleaning to do xx
@Eleanor Bonny thank you for your comment 🥰 do you like the momcozy pump?
Yes, I put it on as soon as I get up and get stuff ready for the day, usually before my little one wakes up, then I feed him from the opposite side. There are so many pump levels and settings on it so you can have a play and see which suits you best. Also it's not too overpriced like some of the bigger brands xx
I have been EBF for the same amount of time as you, he's never had a bottle. I don't pump because I can't be bothered really. Cleaning and sterilising, it just seems like more effort. I've had six bouts of blocked ducts/mastistis. Every month I seem to get it. I've been told it's just one of those things and as long as I feed, I'll probably keep getting it. There are times I think ah it would be easier to stop due to the pain, but I won't, I want to persevere with it for as long as I can. I enjoy it most of the time and I like being his comfort (if he cries, I shove him on the boob and it works every time) and I like that if someone has him, they have to give him back asap so I can feed. All this to say, do whatever works best for you. I know id not enjoy pumping so I don't, but everyone is different.
