Worried

So I had a health department appointment to verify pregnancy today. She said my test was positive but faint. If I went off my last period I would be 8 weeks 5 days. If I go with when I ovulated I’m only a little over 4 weeks about 16-17dpo. Has this happened to anyone else and them go on to have a healthy pregnancy. I’ve been testing and my line is getting darker I’m just worried something’s wrong I guess since the lady said it was still faint but then again maybe it’s the type of test they use?

I wouldn't know but best wishes 🤞🏻

Is there a community clinic providing OBGYN services around you or an income based OBGYN? I'm assuming you went to the health department for affordability. I would definitely get a second opinion. You are ready for an ultrasound already. That would be more accurate or a blood test. Do you have health insurance? If so they can help you find a provider.

@Brittany the Obgyn I go to needs the health department to confirm your pregnancy. I start going to them on the 11th and thats when they will do blood work

Wishing you the best! 💖 That's a process I've never heard of. Where do you live? I live in Florida the process of getting to the Health Department is much different. You can walk in. You don't need a referral and it is mostly for people without health insurance and or money for care. I have experience with several Health Departments as a potential employee for WIC I couldn't continue the interview process because it was best I stay at home with my daughter who was young, as well as a patient.

They're only going off your last period. Health providers don't acknowledge that a woman would know when she ovulated. She's saying your results as if you were 4 weeks more pregnant than you are. If it were me, and I was sure when I ovulated, I'd tell the next doctor your last period was 14 days before the day you ovulated... That way your all on the same page about how old your pregnancy is. It can be helpful throughout the whole pregnancy, with them measuring everything to the correct age of the pregnancy and not scaring you with stuff like this woman did. And when it comes to your due date, you won't be considered post term when you're not actually, avoiding the push for unnecessary inductions which can easily lead to an unnecessary c section for a baby who's actually 4 weeks younger and not ready to come out. Best wishes to you and baby!!!
