We’ve got two cars in our household one work and one private so two different insurance companies- I’ve rang both today as I’m having a section in 2 weeks - one said you have to be signed off by the dr at your 6 week appointment before driving or it’s not valid and the other said as long as your doctor hasn’t told you to inform the dvla you are not allowed to drive then as long as you can do an emergency stop it’s fine to drive - two very different approaches so best to ring and check your individual situation with your insurer
I asked about my 6 week check at baby’s 6 week check and the dr said they don’t do them anymore but said she could have a look and said it was all okay! I drove after 6 weeks though ☺️ xx
I got signed off by the GP to drive about ten days post c section, car insurance said as long as GP ok. Be aware that my “6 week” check didn’t happen until 12 weeks, so if your surgery are like mine, you could wait a while. Always check what your car insurance says as they seem to vastly differ on this.
I drove after 6 weeks, I had to drive to my check 😂
I drove after 6 weeks as my check wasn’t until 8 weeks
Wait for the check because your car insurance isn’t usually valid until you’ve been given the drs approval to drive again
My check isn’t until 8 weeks. I’m 6 weeks now and the receptionist said as long as I feel ok to drive and can do an emergency stop then it’s fine. I’m with admiral insurance and they also said it’s fine x
I drove after 2 weeks 🫣 I don’t remember anyone telling me not to and I was feeling great.
Just call your insurance company and check. Mine said as long as I felt I was ok to drive then it was fine so i drove at 5 weeks
I drove after two weeks I couldn't find anything telling me not to 😅
@Abi tbh it's only cause I remember from my first section. No one told me what not to do this time
I had an emergency c section with my first and I can't even remember about the driving part, I would have listened to what I was told but 6 weeks seems ages! I feel like after two weeks I was driving but maybe I've just forgotten
I would ring your insurance, mine said so long as I had a doctors letter I could drive.
I drove after 2 weeks. Just check your insurance and if you feel ready then you can. They say as long as you feel you could perform an emergency stop then you’re fine x

My car insurer said I wouldn’t be covered if I had a bump, but my health visitor and dr said I didn’t need to be seen. I had a gp appointment anyway which I drove myself to and I’ve driven ever since. I think as long as you feel strong and confident to emergency stop if you need to it should be okay x
I drove when I was 6 weeks, still haven't had my postnatal check tho
