When my baby was younger, she’s 2 now, I used to lay her down and let her sooth herself to sleep. Still to this day, i’ll tell her it’s nap time and she’ll lay down and put herself to sleep. I’ll read her a book at bedtime but for nap time, i just give her a kiss on the head and she’s out.

@Emily how on earth did you train her to do that 😅

@Sophia Took a lot of afternoons listening to her cry, comforting, and her not taking naps at all for a few days. Have to stay strong and wait. After a few days, she was doing much better and after a month or so, she was by herself.

@Sophia Just time and patience. Babies are quick learners if you give them the time❤️

I think it’s about finding that right spot when they are tired. I tend to feed my girl at the start of a wake window when I can and then when she starts looking sleepy I put her in the next to me. She usually fights it for a bit and eats her hands and gives me smiles and chats to me. Very occasionally we get a little bit of crying but I give her the dummy and tell her it’s sleepy time and then she goes to sleep. It’s getting quicker though. We co-sleep at night so I’m trying to get her used to the next to me in the day time so I can start putting her in there at night too

As a baby I didn’t put him to sleep any other way. Biologically normal to feed to sleep and it was always the easiest way. I did that until my son was 22 months. Then it became a combo of singing songs, a little bit of rocking. Now that he’s almost 3 and in a toddler bed I lie next to him and sometimes hold his hand, rock his back or sing, whatever he asks for. Sleep is largely based on temperament. The majority of babies need support to go to sleep, unless people sleep train.

Sleepsuit on Black out blind Red light and white noise Kiss on the face and leave the room

Sleeping bag on Dimmed light Prayers before bed Rock to sleep or lay down and will self settle to sleep

Lay him down and leave the room, I give him a muslin and he will rub his face x

On first yawn we get a book to read, might need to do 2. Then we turn on the lamps and big light off, i rock to sleep gently saying close your eyes, it's time for a nap and shushing. We currently contact nap but going to start the cot soon.
