A 20 week scan is known as an abnormality scan. Its to check everything on baby is forming correctly e.g. bones, heart, brain, spinal cord, face, kidneys and abdomen. They have a check list which they have to go through and check off each one. They can also tell you the gender at it if baby shows.

The radiographer can not discuss findings properly. So now days they put a dr appointment straight after to go through everything right away. So you know exactly what's happening

Depending on where you’re based, it might be to discuss your previous birth outcomes or any risks they have identified (for example, if you’ve previously had a c-section) so they can make sure you’re being provided with the correct care pathways. Also if you’re generally new to that team they might do it as standard to ensure your paperwork etc is all in order! X

I may be completely wrong but i had 2 appointments with my daughter, my 20 week scan then straight after went and got a jag for i believe whooping cough but they will tell you what it is when you are there xx

We had this with all our appointments. Radiographer would do the scan but not talk though the results. So you'd go from the scan back to the waiting room and then have an appointment with a consultant shortly after to review the scan/discuss history/plan pregnancy
