Help

How do you get simple things done like putting the washing on making food with your LO without always using the help of a tv? I find it soo hard because I need constant eyes on her and my partner gets home sooo late it’s just me on my own. I find it hard to even have a shower! I don’t want her to watch so much screen time so I play with her all day and get nothing done!

I have left one cupboard in our kitchen without a lock on it. It holds all his plates and cups, he loves pulling it all out. I find it keeps him occupied while I make tea!

We have a playpen. He doesn't always like when he's put in it but normally settles down so I have enough time to do some housework or cook. Showers I wait until partner is home or bubs is napping

The spice jar cupboard has become a real source of entertainment lately. He likes to take them out and put them back in or shake the ones that make noise. That or I put him in his high chair with some food. And yeah showers I wait til he’s napping or my partner is home, I usually shower at night

My LO loves to load the washing machine but when it's half done he will start unloading it so I'll have to distract him with a loud toy or just put in thr high chair with snacks until its actually on. He can turn it off though so I have to be careful he doesn't turn it off until at least the rinse cycle is completed. He will then take wet clothes and hang them on the drying rack but after 10 mins will start putting everything back in the washing machine so I have to lock it with a baby safe lock lol. Adorable. Or he takes any random dry clothes he can find and puts in the washing machine I'm trying to unload 😅. Food is so hard and sometimes I have to skip eating lunch myself so I can cook dinner in advance while he's in the high chair, even with a TV on 😥 then I eat when he naps and i have no appetite for dinner. 🫠 Showering I do when my partner can keep him occupied. We have a hisense TV and if you click star you can turn screen off so we can listen to ms Rachel as a radio show with no screen.♥️♥️♥️

Some toys that are good for high chair include stacking cups, I give him his own vital baby food pots and he stacks them or tries to get the lid on or trap one in his drinking cup. Wooden spoon and metal bowl. Maracas. Any handheld instrument like bells on a stick etc. Sometimes I can prolong my time washing up by saying "go go go" as this is our code word for chasing each other around but then I only have 1 min then I actually have to chase him for 10 seconds and then go back to washing up. It's enough to get a few small items washed and then he might be happy with the quality time to just play alone for 2 mins after that if I'm lucky
