I didn’t have any issues with the prep machine x
The difference with the prep machine is that to make the bottle you have to shake it immediately before feeding baby so there is more gas in the bottle, I found using the kettle and rapid cool flask to cool the bottle almost got rid of my babies colic - and his colic was really bad! x
I know my HV was very against them for it giving babies digestive problems. She was in preference for us making several bottles, storing at the back of the fridge and using within 24 hours. Although it didn't resolve our daughter's feeding problems (we discovered she was lactose intolerant) it was such an easy way to make bottles, that we stuck with it.
@Cerise I never shook, I swirled it round it creates way less bubbles.
With my first HV's recommended not using prep machine until the baby was about 4 months old because they can apparently cause colic symptoms
@N 💞 I hear you but when making 9/10oz bottle, swirling the water doesn’t make all of the milk powder dissolve… there isn’t quite enough hot water to mix it correctly with out shaking x
My prep machine wasn’t doing the hot shot actually above 70 degrees, I tested it with food thermometer and it was like 65-68 so not hot enough to kill bacteria. So it could be causing tummy problems due to this x
I have heard prep machines can do that. Probs best to carry on using the rapid cool and see if it carries on working for you guys 😊
