Hi lovely. First off congrats mama 🥰 My first was an emergency section and I have no idea what to expect and knew no one who had one. I found that having really loose fitting/high waisted bottoms the best for comfort, also high waisted underwear that won’t be rubbing off your scar I’m talking the Bridget jones kind that will go over the belly button 🙈 I also sized up for extra comfort. Try to move about early on as I was afraid to get out of bed which made me stiffer than I needed to be, if you can move about even little walks around the hospital in those first few days it’s really helpful. I found my recovery easy and wasn’t in much pain but I put that down to the fact I was so consistent with my pain meds, even after I left hospital I still took paracetamol every 4 hours like they suggested for those first few days. Hope that helps, if you have any question feel free to message me 💖

@Tanya thank you so much.. please can you help with a name of the Maternity pads I can get? I see so many online and it’s confusing

I just got the standard ones I. Boots and tescos, no fancy ones just cheap and they worked for me really well. I also found (don’t know if it’s because I have a c-section) I didn’t bleed for long, just 2 weeks and after a week ish isn’t wasn’t very heavy

I also had an emergency C-section and found that baskets with essentials in, around the house helped me massively! Things like wipes, nappies etc. Tanya gave great advice, the only thing I would add is a cot that's a similar height to your bed so you don't have to bend down to reach baby and a changing station in the room you'll be in most should also help 😊

I bought the tena disposable underwear for £9 a pack they were a life saver! Also buy a couple packs of ibuprofen and paracetamol, also some senna tablets!!

I found wearing lose dress like housecoats helped a lot. Plus it was easy to nurse in if you are planning on nursing. If you are planning on nursing don’t be alarmed that your milk might not come in right away. It might take a few days. I did not know that when I had my c section. It’s okay if you need to supplement with formula and combo feed. Any kind of feeding is best. Take it easy but also moving around helps a lot and don’t freak out if your feet swell it happens just drink lots of water and move around the house. Also take everything from the hospital room. They should have these cloth underwear and pads. Ask for extra to take home.

A changing table was really helpful to change baby as its waist height.

Congratulations mama!! So i had my planned section on friday so this is fresh in my mind, i would say loose nightwear for sure. I took a nighty and then very over sized pjs they come up very high, i would also say your own giant underwear and pads, i found this way more comfortable than the pants and pads provided. Lastly i would say some footwear, i had to wear compression stockings and you weren’t allowed to walk around without something on your feet as it can be slippy, i just took some hard soled slippers 😊 i hope this helps, im happy to answer any other questions you might have xxx
