I look 4 months pregnant and gained only 5 pounds and my baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead right now lol, your bump doesn’t mean a thing I promise ❤️
@Kas ultrasounds don't use radiation to produce an image like radiographs (X-ray). They use high frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of your body.
I’m 33 weeks and I barely have a bump, everyone is different!
If you’re concerned you can always find a place that does ultrasounds outside of your OB, but you will have to pay out of pocket for them.
Agreed with everyone here. Everyone bump is different. Mine didn’t really pop out until 28 weeks and she measures big. There are boutique clinics a that will do ultrasounds that don’t need doctors orders. Most won’t do measurements or anything but you can at least see them. Mine does an”peace of mind” scan which has helped me on my high anxiety weeks. They aren’t necessarily cheap depending on your budget and where you go though. And no ultrasounds don’t have radiation so you don’t need to be concerned about that. I’ve been getting them twice a week since week 4 and weekly since 30 and she is just fine.
@Kelli it’s still not considered safe to have multiple scans (hence why 2 weeks in between minimum if you have to have multiple) but unless it’s medically necessary they won’t just scan you because you ‘look big’ or look small if there’s nothing wrong with your baby
Most healthy pregnancies get 2-3 ultrasounds over the entire duration of the pregnancy 💗 your doctor would most likely only prescribe extra ones if they have a concern or you’re high risk! And like others have said, everyone’s bump is different! My friend was 8 months pregnant and you could hardly tell she was pregnant at all! My mom also tells me (32 weeks) that I don’t really look pregnant. I think I do, but 🤷♀️🤣
Everyone’s bump size is different so they won’t give you more scans because your bump looks bigger or smaller than what you thunk it should. If you’re ever concerned about movements or anything just call triage and if they think necessary then they’ll do a scan. Scans should be limited throughout pregnancy unless medically necessary due to the radiation which is why you’ve probably been told this so don’t panic xx
