Injections

Hi all, my boy who’s 8 weeks is getting his first lot of injections tomorrow, has anyone got any advice before we go? Should I get some calpol in? What can I expect afterwards? TIA

My girl has hers tomorrow too, following fit advice

I’d say definitely get some calpol, they advise to give it straight after to help them not get a fever. Our little one was a bit more sleepy and cried a fair bit but only lasted a day

My boy had he’s last week…give calpol straight after jabs and then every 4-6 hours (roughly 3 doses) the nurse will give you you a leaflet with all info on it.. My boy screams when needles went in but slept for 5 hours afterwards and was a little grouchy the nxt day but nothing too bad…was no where near as bad as I thought it would be xx

i just had mine today, let out a scream for the jab otherwise was okay, give calpol after. this evening though he’s defo not feeling great, he’s hot, screaming and inconsolable. 😢 we’ve just managed to give himself more calpol and he’s calmed down. i’m probably going to dress him in a layer less tonight just cos i’m worried about him overheating. the jabs are in the thigh so i’d suggest putting yours in vest and leggings, just so you don’t have to go through the hassle of taking off layers, you can just pull trousers down. hope it all goes okay for you xxx

My doctor suggested that I went to the pharmacy and asked for paracetamol “care of the chemist” I didn’t know what she meant but I went there and asked anyway and they gave me Paracetamol for free, it’s the same as Calpol just not the Calpol brand, done the trick for me after the needles and my LO was fine after 2 doses 6 hours apart

QQ - when you’ve sterilised the syringe for the calpol, what do you put it in when taking it to docs to keep it clean?

@Maneek we didn’t give the calpol until we got back home again (we’re only 5 mins from the GP though). i’m sure just putting it in a sandwich bag/freezer bag or something will be fine though
