HG - when to contact doctor?

Hey everyone! Haven’t been diagnosed with HG but I’m really struggling with sickness and have been for 2 weeks (now 7w4d). However it seems to be getting worse. I’m vomiting around 10-15 times a day. I used to be able to have a slice of toast as soon as I opened my eyes which would help, but now I can’t keep anything down for more than 10 minutes. I’m dizzy when I walk and definitely wouldn’t be safe driving. At what point did you go to see your GP for them to confirm HG over morning sickness? Or did you speak to your midwife? I’m in the UK and I’ve actually got my booking appointment later today!

Sorry to hear your struggling! I would definitely get in contact with your GP today! Don’t sit and struggle by yourself as that’s the worst thing I did with my first pregnancy. I had no idea what HG was with my first and I got my self so sick that I ended up calling 111 thinking something wasn’t right. They told me to go straight to triage and I was offered IV fluids and went through multiple anti sickness and that’s when they told me I had HG. Your GP should recognise this and admit you to hospital for IV fluids and anti sickness if they feel you may be dehydrated from not being able to keep liquids/food down. I would still mention it to your midwife today and they may be able to get in contact with your doctor if you haven’t already done that before you go. Hope you start to feel better soon! X

Fingers crossed that it’s over with by 12wks! I’d just ring them and tell them, they can give you tablets to help it.

@Lisa thank you! I’ve just called they want to see me in an hour x

Ahh sorry to hear you’re being so sick. I was a bit like you at first where I also didn’t know if it was HG but I reached out to the pregnancy support sickness team in the UK who assured me that it was and made sure I had all the information and got the right tablets I needed! Hope your midwife can help but if not I would try and book a doctors appointment as I was hospitalised a few times at the beginning by not being able to keep down fluids at all. Hope it eases for you soon! X

Second getting in touch today and ask for Xonvea!

Call EPU asap!! They will help you out. I went there and they gave me anti sickness injections, will put you on IV if severely dehydrated and give you meds to keep the sickness down x

Btw I suffered from like 6 weeks to 16 weeks. It was awful felt so depressed!! I went to the EPU again and they gave me new meds (ondansetron), injection and signed me off work for 2 weeks. Helped out a lot
